This year's competition has the largest number of participating delegations, the largest number of contestants and teams, including teams from the northernmost part of the country (Ha Giang) and the southernmost part (Ca Mau). According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, this year's competition promises to continue to improve in quality and efficiency.

The contest is organized to create conditions for exchange and learning between students who love math at primary and secondary school levels, promote the "Two Goods" movement in schools across the country, and at the same time create an environment for teachers to exchange experiences in teaching math.

Since 2005, Math Magazine for Children has started organizing the "Children's Math Olympiad" exchange activity for primary school students. In 2009, the Ministry of Education and Training agreed to let the Childhood Math Olympiad officially become an annual activity for both primary and secondary school levels.
