4 perennial trees in Truong Sa listed as Heritage Trees
Professor Dang Huy Huynh, PhD of Science, Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, said that among the 72 ancient trees that have just been recognized as qualified by the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council, there are 4 perennial trees in Truong Sa island district of Khanh Hoa province.
Specifically, there are 2 Mù u trees on Sơn Ca Island and Sinh Ton Island; 1 Bàng vuông tree on Nam Yet Island and 1 Phong ba tree on Song Tu Tay Island. These trees are all over 30 years old and have special values in terms of history, culture, biology and environmental landscape. In the northernmost region of the country, the Council also considered and selected 13 trees over 500 years old and over 600 years old, meeting the criteria of Vietnam Heritage Trees, which are 4 Banyan trees with a trunk circumference of 7m to 9m, over 30m high in Thien Huong village, Dong Van town; and 9 giant Chò chỉ trees (over 45m high, trunk circumference over 6m) in Tan Khau village, Phu Nam commune, Bac Me district, Ha Giang province.

Notably, this time the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council also selected 54 qualified ancient trees, out of a total of 135 tree records in the vicinity of war zone D, now sub-area 379 Ma Da, Tan Hoa commune, Dong Phu district, Binh Phuoc province, just sent by Company B58. Notably, the composition of Vietnam Heritage Trees here is quite rich (including 13 species), including 2 Kơ Nia trees in plot 3 and 1 Chiêu Liêu tree in plot 4 with a height of over 50 m. In plot 4, there is also a 40 m high pine tree with a base circumference of 11.7 m.
Hanoi also has one more tree recognized as a Vietnam Heritage Tree this time, which is a more than 200-year-old Banyan tree in the grounds of Tho Son communal house, Dai Nghia town, My Duc district. If all these trees are approved by the President of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, the list of Vietnam Heritage Trees nationwide will reach 700 trees.
