4 compact sedan models have just been discounted

B-class sedans such as Toyota Vios, Nissan Sunny or Honda City are all discounted because the special consumption tax rate for vehicles with engines of 1.5L or less is only 40%.

Since July 1, after the new special consumption tax schedule was applied, automobile manufacturers and importers in Vietnam have begun to adjust the selling prices of a series of car models. Accordingly, small car models with engine capacity from 1.5L have decreased by 10 to 20 million VND compared to before July 1, while large-engine car models have increased by hundreds of millions, several billion, even up to 30 billion VND for special Rolls-Royce Phantom versions.

In the B-class small sedan segment, most models such as Toyota Vios, Honda City, Nissan Sunny or Ford Fiesta have all been adjusted down.

Toyota Vios reduced from 27 to 31 million VND

Toyota Vios 1.5G version reduced up to 31 million VND from July 1.

Toyota's B-class sedan has 2 models with reduced prices: Vios 1.5E and Vios 1.5G. The Vios 1.5E version with 5-speed manual transmission has a new price of 564 million, a decrease of 27 million VND, while the Vios 1.5G version with 4-speed automatic transmission has a new price of 622 million, a decrease of 31 million VND.

In the Vietnamese market, along with Ford Ranger, Toyota Vios is the 2 best-selling car models with sales of about 1,000 cars per month. Vios is also the best-selling model of Toyota Vietnam. In the small sedan segment, Vios' monthly sales are many times higher than competitors such as Honda City, Nissan Sunny or Ford Fiesta sedan.

Honda City reduced by 19-21 million VND

According to the new price list in July of Honda Vietnam, among the 5 car models currently being officially distributed including Civic, City, CR-V, Accord, and Odyssey, only the B-class sedan Honda City has been adjusted down. Specifically, Honda City 1.5MT has a selling price of 533 million VND, a decrease of 19 million compared to the previous price of 552 million VND. The 1.5AT version from 604 million VND before has decreased by 21 million VND, to 583 million VND.

Honda City has a discount of about 20 million VND.

In Honda Vietnam's automobile product portfolio, City and CR-V are the two main models and contribute the largest sales to the company. In the B-class sedan segment, Honda City sells better than Nissan Sunny, Ford Fiesta or Mitsubishi Attrage but still much lower than Toyota Vios.

Ford Fiesta sedan reduced by 20 million VND

Ford Fiesta sedan has a discount of 20 million VND.

According to the new special consumption tax rate, cars with engine capacity less than 1.5L are reduced from 45% to 40%. Ford Vietnam has reduced the price of the 4-door Ford Fiesta with a 1,498cc engine by 20 million VND, down to 579 million VND. Previously, this model was priced at 599 million VND.

Despite possessing new, exclusive Ford technologies, Fiesta has not yet won the hearts of Vietnamese customers. Monthly sales of this model are quite low, just under 100 cars. In the B-sedan segment, the 4-door Fiesta still has difficulty competing with Toyota Vios or Honda City.

Nissan Sunny reduced by 5 million VND

In early July, Nissan Vietnam also adjusted the selling price of the Sunny model. Of the 3 versions XL, XV, and XV SE, only the XV version was adjusted down, but the reduction was very small, only 5 million VND. The new selling price of the Nissan Sunny 1.5L with 4-speed automatic transmission is 559 million VND.

Nissan Sunny has a fairly low price from July 1.

Nissan Sunny is equipped with a 1,498cc gasoline engine combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission to produce 99.3 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 134 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The Japanese joint venture did not announce monthly sales of Sunny in the Vietnamese market, however, the company representative said that this car line is also quite popular with Vietnamese users due to its spacious interior.
