4 cases of extended military service age
The Ministry of National Defense has added regulations on subjects and conditions for professional soldiers to have their military service age extended.

New Ministry of DefenseThe Circular amends and supplements a number of articles on regulations on professional military ranks corresponding to salary levels, conferment, promotion, and demotion of military ranks in cases of disciplinary reduction in salary; procedures, processes, and decision-making authority for professional soldiers, workers, and defense officials.
Subjects eligible for military service extension include:
Professional soldiers with college degrees or higher currently holding the following positions: Technicians, Technical staff, trainers, artists, musicians, actors working in their specialized fields at research facilities, schools, hospitals, sports centers, art troupes, factories, defense enterprises; units stationed in remote, isolated, border, and island areas.
Professional soldiers working in narrow, well-trained specialties or specialties that the Army has not yet trained in; high-level workers.
Professional soldiers are holding command and management positions in defense factories and enterprises.
Professional soldiers not subject to the provisions of Point a, Point b, Point c of this Clause shall be decided by the Minister of National Defense.
The above subjects must meet specific conditions such as: The unit has a payroll and needs to use, has no replacement, voluntarily continues to serve in the army, has sufficient political qualities, ethics, and health to complete the assigned tasks...
The period of extension of military service age shall not exceed 5 years compared to the highest military service age according to military rank but shall not exceed the retirement age of employees under normal working conditions, which is adjusted to increase according to the roadmap of the Labor Code.
If the age of active service is extended, the person will no longer hold command or management positions; special cases will be decided by the Minister of National Defense.
During the period of extending the age of active service, if a professional soldier does not meet one of the prescribed conditions, the unit will consider terminating active service.
During the period of extended service age, professional soldiers are entitled to receive salaries, allowances and subsidies according to the provisions of law.
