40 years of Phan Thuc Truc High School: Contributing to making the homeland shine

(Baonghean)- Phan Thuc Truc High School was established in early September 1975, located in the southern communes of Yen Thanh district, a rural area consisting of many poor villages, including mountainous areas, far from the cultural and educational centers of the district and province but rich in traditions of studiousness.

Established in the years after the war, the opening of high schools was still very limited, so the school was named Yen Thanh Co-operative High School. In August 1993, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued a decision to change it to Phan Thuc Truc High School and in January 1996, according to the new Education Law, it was called Phan Thuc Truc High School. From a school with only 4 classes, the classrooms were mainly "thatched houses with mud walls" with 29 teachers and staff, it has now stabilized 39 classes with nearly 1,500 students, teaching equipment meeting national standards, a team of 94 teachers and staff, all of whom are qualified, 15% have a Master's degree.

The school's comprehensive and key education quality has developed steadily. In 1980, for the first time, the school had only 5 students passing the university entrance exam. Now, every year, hundreds of students pass the university entrance exam across the country, many of whom have achieved high scores and have been commended by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The graduation rate is always 98-100%. The rate of excellent students in the province and excellent teachers in the province has increased rapidly and there have been many high awards. From 2010 to 2015, the school had 30 excellent students at the provincial level, winning first and second prizes and always being in the top of the province, 20 teachers with provincial-level initiatives and experiences.

In the 2005-2006 school year, the school was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister. In April 2013, the school achieved National Standards, and in 2015, the State awarded the Third Class Labor Medal. For 5 consecutive years (2011-2015), the school continuously achieved the title of Excellent Labor Collective, was awarded the Emulation Flag of the Provincial People's Committee and a Certificate of Merit by the Minister of Education and Training.

From this school, many students have become senior officers in the armed forces, with academic degrees in teaching and scientific research. Some are good businessmen, talented managers, and some have been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, such as: Pham Van Vinh, Ho Phi Thieu, Le Van Trung, Nguyen Huu Thi, Nguyen Van Huu, Vo Hong Minh, Dang Thanh Tung, Nguyen Huu Mai, Hoang Vinh Phu, Le Van Hien, Le Son Ha, Nguyen Ba Sy, Nguyen Trung Viet, Nguyen Dao Muoi... The number of students who did not go to university and returned to their hometowns have also strived to become local officials, good businessmen, contributing to building a rich and beautiful homeland.

In addition to teaching achievements, the school also pays great attention to moral training and teaching life skills to students. The school's Youth Union takes care of the National Historical Relic Site in My Thanh Commune - the place where 72 Soviet soldiers of Nghe Tinh were executed during the 1930-1931 revolutionary movement. The school's Trade Union has organized many fundraising campaigns to support the construction of houses of gratitude for the wives of martyrs, and support students in difficult circumstances.
