(Baonghean) - Exactly 40 years ago, on August 13, 1971, in Huong Son - Ha Tinh, Construction Workers School I was established under the decision of the Ministry of Transport with the core task of training a team of technical workers to supplement the force for the transport sector, ensuring smooth traffic flow during the resistance war against the US in the area of Zone 4.

On May 22, 1989, the School changed its name to Technical Workers School under the Vietnam Road Administration.

On September 17, 1993, the school changed its name to the Central Technical and Vocational School of Transport.

In December 2003, the School was upgraded by the Ministry of Transport to the Central High School of Transport. On August 7, 2008, the School was established by the Ministry of Education and Training on the basis of the Central High School of Transport.

Forty years, from a technical worker training school, it has now become a College in the national university education system, with the motto of multi-disciplinary and multi-vocational training to meet the increasingly high demands of the transport industry. From the initial faltering steps of accumulating experience, approaching modern educational methods, and absorbing new technological achievements in the field of transport construction, the school has always strived to meet the requirements of society step by step.

After 40 years of construction and development, the School has grown in all aspects, especially in training capacity. The training scale of the School increases every year (currently the flow has reached 3600 students/year). Up to now, the School has trained 38 courses of CNKT with over 21,000 skilled technical workers; 7 courses of Intermediate Vocational Training with nearly 3000 students and 3 courses of Professional College with nearly 1000 students; professional training for over 7000 workers, officers..., significantly supplementing a technical workforce for the Transport industry and other economic sectors in the region as well as in the whole country.

Most of the graduates are accepted to work in many central and local sectors, including the army and overseas labor cooperation. During their working time, most of them are evaluated by their units as having good moral qualities and sense of organization and discipline, solid skills, and the ability to adapt to production quickly. Most of them mature quickly, many of them become leading workers after only a few years, some continue to study to become good technical staff and managers.

Since 1994, the School has cooperated with Hanoi University of Transport to train nearly 1,500 engineers specializing in road and bridge construction, construction machinery and construction economics. This force has timely supplemented the technical labor shortage for units in the area in recent times. Many people are currently holding key positions in production units.

One task that the School has effectively carried out in recent years is training according to social needs, especially short-term vocational training courses, joint training contracts, training according to project programs, training for subjects under increasing social policies such as opening training classes at production units, vocational training for prisoners at provincial police detention camps...

From 2004 to 2006, the School successfully implemented the SEACAP10 Project - a technical assistance project of the UK government on consulting and training to improve the capacity of rural transport officers for 3,100 communes in 23 provinces and cities across the country, and was highly appreciated by the investor for its capacity to organize and implement the project.
In 2010-2011, the School undertook the task assigned by the Ministry of Transport to train and improve the capacity of the GTNT3 project for provincial and district officials and traffic construction contractors in 5 provinces (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri). The program was implemented on schedule, with quality, including 61 courses with 1,704 participants.

Combining learning with practical production to train vocational skills for students, the school has brought production into the school early, and has boldly accepted projects or construction items to construct. This work was started in 1983 and promoted since the early 90s. Up to now, teachers and students of the school have participated in the construction, overhaul and repair of nearly 50 large and small projects of all kinds with high quality, ensuring reputation.

Along with training activities, the school always focuses on scientific and technical activities. Scientific research has been widely launched to departments, centers... Many specialized seminars and scientific reports have been organized. Many technical innovation initiatives on management and training, serving teaching, learning and production have been researched and applied to practical activities in the school, bringing positive results. In 2009, the school was assigned by the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to compile "National vocational skills standards - Engineering surveying profession" and "Framework program for vocational college level, intermediate vocational level - engineering surveying profession". In 2010, it was assigned to be the agency in charge of the ministerial-level scientific topic "Research on the use of coastal sand in the Central region as sand concrete pavement in rural road construction". All topics were completed on schedule, achieved quality and were highly appreciated by the Ministry-level Appraisal Council.

Combining learning with practice, the school not only focuses on teaching theory but also focuses on practice. Billions of dong have been invested in building laboratories and purchasing machinery and equipment for practical teaching. The school's laboratory is not only a place for students to practice but also a facility for research and experimentation on scientific topics.

With continuous efforts in both physical strength and intelligence over the past 40 years, the school and many cadres, teachers and civil servants have been awarded many noble prizes by the Party, the State, the industry and the locality. In 1996, the school was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, in 2001 it received the Second Class Labor Medal and in 2011 it was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal; 3 cadres and teachers were awarded the title of excellent teachers by the state, many cadres and teachers were recognized as emulation fighters of the Transport industry... These are the recognitions of the school's achievements, and at the same time the luggage to step on the new journey, striving to become a University before 2020.
