42 months in prison for counterfeit goods producer

(Baonghean.vn)- On September 25, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial to try the case of manufacturing and trading counterfeit goods against Than Huu Phuoc (born in 1974, residing in Ward 2, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City), Luong Thanh Tung (born in 1982, residing in Ward 12, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City) and Pham Van Do (born in 1985, residing in Dien Kim Commune, Dien Chau District).

The investigation agency of Nghe An Province Police determined that from April to December 2014, Than Huu Phuoc bought raw materials floating on the market, ordered the printing of packaging, boxes, labels... and then directly instructed workers in his factory to counterfeit a number of branded products such as Da Huong feminine hygiene solution, Listerine mouthwash, Cortibion ​​skin cream, Nivea deodorant with a quantity of up to thousands of products. Of which, Phuoc sold nearly 2,500 products to Luong Thanh Tung. After that, Luong Thanh Tung sold them to Pham Van Do. Do brought the above counterfeit products to sell in Dien Chau, Tuong Duong districts... and was arrested.

Subject Than Huu Phuoc and accomplices

The authorities determined that Than Huu Phuoc must bear criminal responsibility for the amount of counterfeit goods produced, equivalent to genuine goods worth more than 630 million VND. Luong Thanh Tung must bear criminal responsibility for the amount of counterfeit goods purchased from Phuoc, equivalent to genuine goods worth more than 543 million VND. Pham Van Do must bear criminal responsibility for the amount of counterfeit goods traded, equivalent to genuine goods worth more than 32 million VND.

Based on the severity of each person's violation, the People's Court sentenced Than Huu Phuoc to 42 months in prison for producing counterfeit goods and fined Phuoc 5 million VND; Luong Thanh Tung was sentenced to 30 months in prison and Pham Van Do to 9 months in prison with a suspended sentence for trading in counterfeit goods.
