(Baonghean.vn) - In the past 5 years, Nghe An province has welcomed nearly 17.6 million tourists, with revenue reaching 12,130 billion VND... are the indicators stated atThe 4th Congress of Nghe An Tourism Association, morning of November 28.

Over the past 5 years, Nghe An province has welcomed nearly 17.6 million tourists, of which 342,800 were international visitors (the overall growth rate of visitors was over 4.4%/year). Tourism revenue is estimated at 12,130 billion VND, with an average growth rate of 13.6%/year.

The above results have important contributions from members of Nghe An Tourism Association.

During the 2012 - 2017 term, the Association regularly disseminated the policies, laws of the State and the industry related to tourism business activities as well as organized meetings, seminars, and forums for members to promote tourism in regions, connect tours, and increase market share and revenue.

However, there are still some problems such as the number of members participating is still low, the quality of members is not high, they are not really enthusiastic and attached to the organization. The tourism promotion and propaganda work is not strong and not in-depth...

At the congress, delegates discussed issues such as how to do tourism via the Internet; how to communicate about tourism in the new technology era; the role of the Tourism Association in protecting the rights of members as well as the obligations of members to the Association...

Speaking at the congress, Director of Nghe An Department of Tourism Nguyen Manh Cuong acknowledged the contributions of members in the development of Nghe An tourism. He said that Nghe An leaders are increasingly interested in tourism development and consider this an important goal in economic development;

Hopefully, members of Nghe An Tourism Association will be more active in promptly reporting problems encountered during operations, thereby coordinating with Nghe An Department of Tourism to further develop the tourism industry, so that tourism can truly become a key economic sector.

Within the framework of the congress, the Association set a target of welcoming 5 - 5.5 million overnight guests by 2020, achieving an average growth rate of 6.5% - 8.5% per year; tourism service revenue by 2020 reaching 5,600 - 6,000 billion VND, an average increase of 17-19%.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee for the 2017 - 2022 term with 35 members including 1 Chairman, 8 Vice Chairmen, and 1 General Secretary.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Tourism Association awarded Certificates of Merit to 8 groups and 10 individuals with active activities in the past term.
