The 17th Provincial People's Council held its second session.

On the morning of August 3, the 17th Provincial People's Council opened its second session for the 2016-2021 term to discuss and decide on many important issues of the province.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Chairman of the Provincial People's Council delivered the opening speech at the meeting.

At this session, the Provincial People's Council delegates discussed and analyzed the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2016; tasks and solutions for the last 6 months of 2016. After 2 working days, the Provincial People's Council passed a number of important resolutions and proposed 4 key tasks for all levels and sectors in the province to focus on directing the implementation. These are:

1. The Provincial People's Committee needs to promptly concretize the resolution of the Provincial People's Council, resolutely direct the implementation of the set goals, targets and tasks. Exploit and effectively use resources for socio-economic development, control and minimize environmental pollution; prevent natural disasters; ensure the connection between economic development and socio-culture, ensure social security, improve the material and spiritual life of the people.

2. The Courts, Procuracies, enforcement agencies, and investigation agencies continue to promote judicial reform activities and promote public service responsibilities to enforce the law and justice.

3. The People's Council shall strengthen supervision of the implementation of the Party and State's guidelines and policies in all socio-economic, defense and security fields; closely follow the 2016 goals set forth in the Resolution of the People's Council; strengthen the coordination between the People's Council and the People's Committee, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; between the Provincial People's Council and the People's Councils at district and commune levels; continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of the People's Council's operations, worthy of being the local state power agency, representing the will, aspirations and mastery of the People.

4. After this session, based on the report on the results of the Provincial People's Council session, the Provincial People's Council delegates will meet with voters, report on the results of the session, and convey the contents of the Provincial People's Council resolutions to all walks of life. At the same time, closely contact voters to listen to and promptly reflect their opinions and recommendations to the Provincial People's Council.

Opening of the 9th National Phu Dong Sports Festival 2016

On the evening of August 1, at Vinh Stadium, the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with the People's Committee of Nghe An province solemnly held the opening ceremony of the 9th National Phu Dong Sports Festival.

The 9th Phu Dong Sports Festival began from July 19 to August 10 in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces with nearly 6,000 athletes from 63 provinces and cities participating, competing in 15 sports.

Nghe An strives to have 20,000 enterprises by 2020, creating jobs for an average of 35,000 - 37,000 workers each year; strives to have enterprises contribute over 70% of the province's budget revenue by 2020, with enterprise investment capital accounting for at least 48% of total social investment capital. Nearly 1,400 candidates apply for review of national high school exam

The number of re-examination exams was twice as many as the number of candidates who failed the graduation exam (with 777 candidates).

Among the subjects with re-examination, the most are essay subjects such as Literature, Math, Geography and the essay part of English. The number of re-examination requests is lower for the multiple-choice part. For example, in the local exam cluster, there are only 2 requests for Physics, 5 requests for Chemistry, 9 requests for Biology, etc.

According to Dr. Thai Huy Vinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training: After receiving the request for re-examination, the examination clusters will compile, collect the papers and proceed to re-examine. The results are expected to be available by August 4. Candidates will receive the re-examination results at the place where they submitted the re-examination application. For candidates using the national high school exam results for university and college admission, if the exam results change after the re-examination, they will receive an additional certificate of exam results with updated re-examination results.

Doctors and nurses at Thanh An Hospital - Saigon stopped working collectively due to unpaid wages
