50,000 red shirts prepare to march
Bangkok police (Thailand) said on June 23 that they will deploy four police units to maintain order and peace in central Bangkok, where a large march by supporters of the "red shirt" movement of the pro-government Alliance for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) will take place on June 24.
Police expect about 50,000 "red shirt" protesters to join the march to commemorate the 1932 Revolution.

Mr. Thida Thavornsate, one of the leaders of UDD, said their large march on June 24 has two purposes: one is to commemorate the end of absolute monarchy in Thailand 80 years ago, and two is to express opposition to any interference in the democratic process in the country.
Mr. Thida said the large march of the "red shirts" will start at noon on June 24 and end at midnight the same day.
The above-mentioned revolution was a fairly peaceful transfer of power on June 24, 1932, according to which the absolute monarchy system in Thailand was converted to a constitutional monarchy./.
