500 police officers raided 61 gambling dens, detained many people

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Han, Chief of Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Lieu Province Police, said that on December 21, police in 7 districts and cities detained 40 people to investigate gambling and organizing gambling, including 32 suspects who were lottery contractors.

Previously, on the afternoon of December 20, more than 500 Bac Lieu police officers simultaneously raided 61 gambling spots in communes and wards when the lottery was about to be drawn. During the overnight search, in addition to nearly 400 million in cash, the authorities temporarily seized 14 computers, fax machines, 48 ​​phones storing text messages, 155 lottery and football betting machines with bets amounting to several billion VND.

The lottery ring organized by Dang Thi Dieu Thao (33 years old, Vinh Loi commune) at her house had dozens of participants. The police confiscated 70 million VND from this female lottery contractor and 12 lottery betting machines containing hundreds of millions of VND.

Bac Lieu City police raided and caught Huynh Dai Vinh (28 years old) red-handed while recording 9 soccer betting records. Searching Vinh's house in Ward 5, the police temporarily seized 70 million VND, 3 mobile phones and a computer storing data suspected to be related to gambling.

According to Mr. Han, this is the peak period of crime suppression before the Lunar New Year, closely coordinated by Bac Lieu Police with professional departments and police of 7 districts and cities, on an unprecedented large scale. On the afternoon of December 21, 58 people related to lottery and football betting were still being questioned, classified and processed by the police./.
