52 sets of medals will be awarded at the 'Green Race' Swimming Tournament in Nghe An province

On July 10, at the Nghe An Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, the Department of Culture and Sports organized the 2022 Nghe An Province "Green Race" Swimming Tournament.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An; Deputy Directors of the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An: Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong - Head of the Organizing Committee, Bui Cong Vinh; representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

The 2022 Nghe An Province "Green Race" Swimming Tournament has 25 teams from districts, cities, towns, and clubs located in the province. The tournament brings together more than 250 athletes competing in 52 events.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong emphasized: Recently, in the whole country in general and Nghe An in particular, there have been many tragic drowning accidents, taking the lives of not only children but also adults, mainly because they do not know how to swim and lack prevention skills.

To limit this problem, the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An has made efforts to implement many solutions and organize many programs to contribute to reducing drowning accidents. These include activities that create highlights such as: Mobilizing the entire population to participate in swimming practice, training in drowning prevention skills for specialized staff at the grassroots level, printing and distributing nearly 70,000 leaflets, propaganda posters, creating reports, etc. The "Green Race" swimming competition in Nghe An province in 2022 is one of the activities to motivate and encourage students and children to actively participate in swimming practice.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports added: The 2022 "Green Race" swimming tournament in Nghe An province has gathered more than 250 athletes, including children from 6 to 18 years old. It can be affirmed that, in addition to preventing the risk of drowning in children, swimming is an extremely important sport that contributes to the improvement of thinking and physical fitness, improving Vietnamese stature, and creating a useful playground for children in the summer. In addition, organizing the swimming tournament is also an opportunity for scouts to find athletes with outstanding qualities, adding to the source of athletes for high-performance sports in Nghe An.
