Being a 12th grader participating in the National Excellent Student Exam is like “winning all or losing all”, because if you pass and get a high score, you can choose your desired university, but many students do not dare to step out of their comfort zone to try; even though they are called to the National Excellent Student Exam preparation team. Therefore, choosing to participate in the National Excellent Student Exam preparation team for 12th graders is accepting the challenge.
The same goes for the 6 students of class 12C1. When entering the Literature class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, each student has a different dream and goal. Some students set a goal of becoming a national excellent student since grade 10, but there are also students who never thought they would join the national excellent student team even though they had the qualifications.
Of the 6 members of the National Excellent Student Team, Trinh Khanh Hien and Nguyen Thi Thao Chi won the Second and Third National Prizes in 11th grade. Of the 4 members: Tran Mai Khanh, Tran Diep Anh, Vu Bao Chau, Tran Thi Mai Dan, each of them has chosen their own plans: achieving high scores in the University entrance exam, taking the IELTS certificate exam, "hunting" for scholarships abroad to study abroad,... However, from the sincere analysis and encouragement of teacher Le Luong Tam - the homeroom teacher, who directly teaches Literature, and teacher Hoang Thi Hien Luong, who is also in charge of Literature, each of them has built for themselves new goals and aspirations when entering the National Excellent Student Team.

Tran Thi Mai Dan shared: “Achieving a high result in the National Excellent Student Competition is an unforgettable mark for me. Until now, I still remember before joining the team, receiving such a message from Ms. Tam at 12 o'clock at night, but I still woke my mother up to tell her about my decision to join the National Excellent Student Team”.
Or like Tran Diep Anh: "When I was called to join the team, I refused, but Ms. Luong Tam and Ms. Hien Luong both convinced me. Ms. Hien Luong told me: Nothing is too difficult, seeing it as difficult is defeat, your way of thinking will determine your success." Hoping to have a miracle, a mark in her student life, Diep Anh overcame herself and succeeded in the National Excellent Student Competition.
EFFORT, UNITY TO ACHIEVE GOALS TOGETHER

Not being confident about the entrance exam results or the first exams of grade 10 is a pressure not only for students in the Literature class but also for the 6 students participating in the National Excellent Student Exam this year. The exams with low scores or the red ink of the teacher's corrections can all make you feel disappointed and doubtful about your own abilities. Many times, you want to give up, feel discouraged and disappointed. However, the passion for Literature always motivates you, because studying Literature will help you "listen, ponder, think more and feel the joys and sorrows of life". Especially, when you are on the same "boat" of the National Excellent Student Team, you have truly bonded.
Being classmates since entering high school, each of us has our own personality, some are enthusiastic, some are thoughtful, some are confident, some are reserved, we have never had a close conversation... And then when we became official members of the National Excellent Student Competition Team, we were really "close", understood, loved, tried together, made an effort, and were determined. We shared each other's joys and sorrows together.
“The biggest change was me. In grade 12, I was called to the team, but two teachers had to convince me for a long time before I could join. I was self-conscious and always felt that being a national excellent student was not for me, but when I studied for the exam with my teachers and friends, I felt my own ability and that my decision was right. When I received the news that I won third prize, I was very surprised by the result. Although the time to study for the exam was not long, I felt that I had learned a lot, and my results in the exam said it all,” Tran Mai Khanh confided.

For all 6 of them, the time studying for the national team exam is considered the best time of their student life, eating, studying, resting and experiencing both joys and sorrows in life together. “The National Second Prize is an achievement worth being proud of, but the important thing is that I feel my own maturity: knowing how to take care of my own life, living responsibly towards my goals, connecting with my friends, and understanding my teachers better,” Tran Thi Mai Dan shared.
Therefore, 6 students achieved high results in the Provincial and National Excellent Student Competitions. Tran Thi Mai Dan and Vu Bao Chau also achieved a score of 7.0 in the recent IELTS exam, an international English certificate score that not all students can achieve. Vu Bao Chau happily said: "The team is truly a common home. You guys always support each other, point out mistakes and shortcomings, and help each other improve every day."
"PAIR" OF PASSION
“Before I started training for the national team, I found Ms. Luong Tam to be strict and quiet, but when I joined the team, I saw her as a mother taking care of her children. Unlike Ms. Luong Tam, Ms. Hien Luong is more enthusiastic. I can share any of my thoughts so that she can direct my thinking more positively. My friends and I can see the thoughtfulness and dedication of the two teachers, and we are deeply moved by their concern. Although we had many limitations at the starting point, the teachers have changed, overcome, and overcome difficulties with us,” Tran Mai Khanh shared.

"Ms. Luong Tam taught us how to think and express ourselves logically and clearly; Ms. Hien Luong wrote creatively and emotionally; especially, their teaching philosophy is always dialogue and listening. A teacher is not someone who transmits the truth, but guides and inspires to open up creativity and passion for conquering knowledge. Caring for and understanding each student's personality, the teachers had their own guidance so that each student could express their personality in their essays. Both teachers supported and supplemented the issues that we needed, and worked very well together."
To promote each student's strengths and inspire passion, Ms. Luong Tam and Ms. Hien Luong always "follow closely" the students, not only teaching knowledge but also grasping the psychology of each student in each stage: "For each student, teachers must be both friends and relatives to be close to and share difficulties in the learning process as well as in life. Timely encouragement or motivation, creating pressure for students to strive will help them progress quickly", Mai Khanh shared more about the two teachers.
Having been together for 10 years teaching Literature at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, teachers Le Luong Tam and Hoang Thi Hien Luong have twice had 100% of their students achieve National Excellent Student status and twice had students win First Prize. This is truly a miracle for the Literature subject, which rarely gets First Prizes in National exams.
Teacher Le Luong Tam shared: “The provincial excellent student exam in grade 11 could not be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the exam was held near the end of October of the 12th grade school year. The time from the provincial excellent student exam to the national excellent student exam was not long, but the students really tried hard and worked hard. Although there were some regrets, the results demonstrated their efforts to overcome difficulties during the learning process due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

“This is the result of the whole process of sharing joys and sorrows of the two teachers as well as the teachers and the 6 students. They held hands and proudly reached the finish line. Hopefully this will be a motivation for the students in the following courses…” shared teacher Hoang Thi Hien Luong.
As you shared, "Studying is to repay the debt of gratitude to literature", because studying literature has helped you discover so many things about life, to be happy, to be sad, to experience, to understand lives, situations... These achievements will give you more strength and passion to reach success in life./.
