Croatia 4-0 Cameroon match is said to have been fixed |
Cameroon's performance at the biggest football festival on the planet is extremely bad. Specifically, this team lost 3 consecutive matches against Mexico (0-1), Croatia (0-4) andBrazil (1-4), thus having to pack their bags and return home right after the group stage. According to the Cameroon Football Federation, these were "smelly" matches, especially the match that coach Volker Finke's team played.0-4 defeat by Croatia.
“We would like to inform you that, although we have not yet contacted FIFA, we are investigating some allegations of fraud. These allegations, along with the existence of seven rotten apples in the Cameroon team, do not affect the core values of Cameroonian football. We are committed to using all necessary means to resolve this matter in the shortest possible time,” FECAFOOT announced.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Benjamin Moukandjo almost clashed on the field |
The suspicion of Cameroon's involvement in match-fixing is said to have stemmed from the fact that betting tycoon Wilson Raj Perumal correctly predicted the outcome of the match between the team and Croatia. In addition, Perumal also asserted that a player could be sent off in the match where Cameroon was mercilessly crushed by Croatia.
Indeed, in the match against Croatia, midfielder Alex Song was sent off by the referee in the first half after elbowing striker Mario Mandzukic. Notably, in the second half, the duo Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Benjamin Moukandjo further damaged the image of Cameroon in the eyes of fans when they collided with each other. With Benoit Assou-Ekotto intending to "headbutt" his teammate, it can be seen that in addition to the suspicion of match-fixing, the Cameroon team is also unstable and this is an issue that needs to be resolved soon.
