7 embassies attend the ceremony to honor and commemorate the birth and death anniversaries of Poet Ho Xuan Huong
(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just issued a comprehensive program to celebrate the 250th birth anniversary and 200th death anniversary of Poet Ho Xuan Huong (1772 - 1822).
Accordingly, the activities will take place over 2 days (December 2 and 3, 2022), of which the two most important activities include: The ceremony to honor and commemorate the birth and death anniversary of Poet Ho Xuan Huong, taking place on the evening of December 3, at Ho Chi Minh Square and the international scientific conference "Poet Ho Xuan Huong (1772-1822) - Cultural celebrity and heritage value" taking place on the morning of December 3 at Giao Te Hotel (Vinh city).

These two activities will be attended by Party and State leaders; Head of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam; leaders of the Central Propaganda Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology; Ministry of Information and Communications, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Vietnam Television and Nghe An province; domestic and international scientists...
In particular, the activities also had the participation of representatives from embassies of 7 countries in Vietnam, including: Korea, Japan, India, Thailand, Laos, New Zealand and the United States.

In addition to the two important activities above, there are also activities: Offering incense to commemorate Poet Ho Xuan Huong at Ho Family Temple and Ho Xuan Huong Memorial Stele in Quynh Doi Commune (Quynh Luu) on the afternoon of December 2; Opening of the painting and poetry exhibition "Ho Xuan Huong - Talent and Mystery" at Ho Chi Minh Square on the afternoon of December 3.
Poet Ho Xuan Huong (1772 - 1822) was the daughter of Ho Phi Dien (1704 - 1786) - a Confucian scholar in Quynh Doi village, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province. She was one of the famous poets of Vietnam, known as the "Queen of Nom poetry".
With her fresh ideas, innovative poetic style, simple and creative language, her works have brought many meanings, values and lasting vitality, from the past to the present. Her poems also contain many contents about gender equality, fighting for the cause of women's liberation in Vietnam.
At the 41st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) taking place from November 9 to 24 in Paris (France), member delegates of this organization approved a list of 60 cultural celebrities and historical events that UNESCO will honor and participate in commemorating the birth and death anniversaries of in the 2022-2023 school year, including poetess Ho Xuan Huong and celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu.
