7 best Vietnamese restaurants in London
Even in the misty land, diners can find restaurants specializing in Vietnamese food such as CoBa, Ngon, or Song Que.
At the restaurants listed below, visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes such as banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), hot beef pho, crispy lotus root salad, or crunchy Western-style banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancake)...
Miss Ba

City Coffee
Before you even see this charming little Vietnamese café, you'll smell the enticing aroma wafting through the street. At lunchtime, you can see long lines of people waiting at the door, and the staff are always calmly serving. The menu includes Hue-style vermicelli, pho, Vietnamese sandwiches, salads, fried rice, and spring rolls... Ingredients are always readily available, such as beef, pork, chicken, or tofu, and shrimp soup. The shop's banh mi is generously filled with pork, liver pâté, chili peppers, crisp vegetables, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.
Cafe East
At Cafe East, you might feel like you're in a Southeast Asian restaurant. Each dish is presented with a colorful photograph. The cafe only serves soft drinks and no alcoholic beverages. The spring rolls with various fresh summer herbs, or the beef pho with its tender slices of meat, chicken, and shrimp are must-try dishes. While the food is impressive and authentically Vietnamese, the prices are also a notable point, being somewhat high.
Banh Mi Bay
Most Vietnamese restaurants in London are concentrated around the Shoreditch and Hackney areas. Banh Mi Bay is one of the interesting stops here where you can enjoy familiar Vietnamese dishes such as pho, spring rolls, and banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancake). At lunchtime, many locals often come to buy banh mi (with meat, pickled vegetables, cucumber, chili and shrimp, beef or pork). A vegetarian option is pho made with tofu, mushrooms, carrots and turnips; the broth isn't too strong but has all the necessary flavors.
Whaam Banh Mi
Whaam offers five types of banh mi sandwiches, accompanied by various salads and spring rolls. Tom Barlow, the owner, spent a year in Vietnam, much of that time learning how to bake the bread and prepare the fillings for Vietnamese banh mi. The bread at Whaam is flatter, and the meat filling is marinated and braised, resulting in a rich and flavorful taste.

This restaurant, owned by chef Ian Pengelley, offers a variety of delicious dishes at very reasonable prices. The seafood dumplings are like enjoying a bowl of seafood soup, thanks to the generous portions of meaty prawns. The restaurant also serves salads with smoked salmon, fresh fruit, and vegetables.
Bobby Chinn, co-founder of the restaurant and Vietnam's Tourism Ambassador in Europe, said he had long wanted to open a Vietnamese restaurant in London and continued to focus on traditional dishes to demonstrate his love for Vietnam and its people.
Tasty
This non-alcoholic café, though newly opened in West London, has become a phenomenon among Vietnamese restaurants here. A typical meal begins with a lotus root salad to introduce Vietnamese cuisine. Other delicious dishes such as banh mi, pho, vermicelli, and rice are also available on the menu. The special rice set includes grilled pork, crab, braised pork with eggs, served with pickled vegetables and Vietnamese fish sauce – a combination of both flavor and ingredients.
