7 outstanding villains of the 'Fast & Furious' series

April 10, 2015 22:04

Jason Statham and Luke Evans are stars who have played "bad guys" and caused many difficulties for Dom and his teammates in the famous action movie series.

1. Johnny Tranin “The Fast & the Furious” (2001)

The Fast & the Furious, released in 2001, mainly focused on introducing the main characters such as Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) or racing scenes. Therefore, the villains of this first episode are more obscure than the following episodes. Johnny Tran (Rick Yune) and his cousin Lance Nguyen (Reggie Lee) are the leaders of the Little Saigon gang and are Dom's main rivals on the racetrack.

Johnny comes from a wealthy family and is considered the prime suspect in the truck robberies. However, in reality, Johnny's gang is just a bunch of gangsters who cause trouble and have conflicts with Dom's group, not really breaking the law.

2. Carter Veronein “2 Fast 2 Furious” (2003)

After letting Dom escape at the end of the first episode, Brian also leaves the police force and is wanted. When caught by the US Customs Service during an illegal car race, Brian is tasked with infiltrating a mafia organization to redeem himself. Carter Verone (Cole Hauser) is an Argentine-born tycoon with a huge amount of illegal money that the US Customs Service is trying to catch red-handed.

With Roman (Tyrese Gibson) and the beautiful secret agent Monica (Eva Mendes) placed next to Carter, Brian tries to catch the boss red-handed. This is not easy because Verone has a cunning mind, controls many Miami police officers and always has a backup plan. Behind the smiling face is a cold-blooded person, as when he tortured an inspector by letting rats eat him right in front of Brian and Roman.

3. “DK” Takashi in “The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift” (2006)

The nickname “DK” stands for “Drift King” and refers to Takashi’s (Brian Tee) racing skills. He is the nephew of a notorious yakuza boss and the “mountain” in the drift racing world that the main character Sean (Lucas Black) must overcome. In their first confrontation, Takashi defeated Sean miserably.

Takashi is one of the more monochromatic villains in the Fast & Furious series, as everything revolves around racing and fighting over his girlfriend Neela (Nathalie Kelley) with Sean. In the final mountain race between Takashi and Sean, “DK” is dethroned and forced to leave Tokyo as per the deal.

4. Arturo Braga in“Fast & Furious” (2009)

Braga (John Ortiz) is a drug lord who specializes in transporting drugs through secret tunnels between the US and Mexico border. In order to deliver the "white death" to its destination in time and safely, he recruits top drivers. Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) is one of them. However, Dom's girlfriend suddenly dies, causing him to decide to return to the underworld to find out the truth. Dom and Brian infiltrate Braga's organization as drivers to bring this boss to light.

Of all the Fast & Furious villains, Braga is the most intelligent. He is cunning, cunning, and always plans many steps ahead. A prime example is the fact that Braga never really shows himself, instead leaving a puppet to act as his replacement in the heists that require his presence.

5. Hernan Reyesin “Fast Five” (2011)

On the surface, Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida) is a successful businessman living in Rio, Brazil. But this is just a cover, Hernan is actually a drug lord. Hernan built his career on his communication skills, money, and cold-blooded command. Under his direction, Dom's group as well as the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents have suffered a lot.

The criminal empire brought Hernan a huge sum of $100 million. He kept the money in... the safe of the Police Department, after using the money to bribe the authorities. Seizing the $100 million was the goal that Dom's team set out in Fast Five to get revenge on Hernan and be able to live comfortably for the rest of their lives.

6. Owen Shawin “Fast & Furious 6” (2013)

After being kicked out of the British Special Forces, Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) becomes a symbol of the underworld. He forms an elite mercenary team, including Letty. She is lucky to survive after the fourth episode but completely loses her memory and becomes an important card in Owen's campaign. Possessing a quick mind and recklessness, Owen is capable of making fun of the London police.

For Owen, world peace and security are secondary. He seeks to steal components to create a Nightshade device that can shut down an entire country's power supply. Owen seeks to sell Nightshade to anyone willing to pay a high price, even terrorist organizations. He makes it difficult for Dom's team and DEA agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) to subdue him.

7. Deckard Shawin “Fast & Furious 7” (2015)

From the very first minutes of Fast & Furious 7, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) proved himself to be no pushover when he destroyed a hospital that was caring for his younger brother Owen. A former special forces soldier, Deckard possesses the recklessness, fighting ability of a warrior and the soul of a monster. Angry that Dom's group put his brother in a coma, Deckard plans to take revenge on each person, with the first victim being Han.

After killing Han in Tokyo, Deckard also sent a bomb to Dom and Brian's house, but no one was injured. This was also the beginning of the dramatic confrontation between Deckard and Dom's group in Fast & Furious 7, spanning from Azerbajan, Abu Dhabi to Los Angeles. Not only good at close combat, Deckard also has a knack for using grenades and always carries them with him.

With a cold appearance, “transporter” Jason Statham was trusted to play the role of Deckard and gave fans many beautiful fighting scenes. In addition, episode seven also has the mercenary boss Jankade (Djimon Hounsou) and bodyguard Kiet (Tony Jaa) as formidable opponents of Dominic Toretto’s “family”.
