7 horrific gun 'liquidation' cases in Vinh City

1. Horrific shooting due to business conflict

Ms. Dinh Thi Chung - a janitor who was shot in the shooting was taken to the emergency room at the Department of Gastroenterology, Nghe An Provincial General Hospital.

The horrific shooting occurred at around 8:00 p.m. on November 4, 2014 on Tran Hung Dao Street (in Block 6, Doi Cung Ward, Vinh City, Nghe An) causing Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang (32 years old, from Hung Binh Ward, Vinh City, Nghe An, temporarily residing on Tran Hung Dao Street, Vinh City, Nghe An) to be hit by a bullet and fall down in her house.

Two workers, Mr. Dang Van Chung (born in 1990, from Thanh Xuan commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An) and Ms. Dinh Thi Chung (born in 1990, from Hung Nguyen district), both from Nghe An Environmental One Member Co., Ltd., were standing on the side of the road waiting for a garbage truck to come and pick up the trash. They were also hit by a mortar round and injured.

2. Horrific fight and shooting at karaoke bar

The incident occurred at around 4:00 p.m. on September 13, 2016 in front of Quan Lau karaoke bar, Truong Thi ward, Vinh city, causing at least 2 people to be hospitalized.

Many locals said that while the two groups were arguing, they suddenly used knives, swords, iron pipes, bricks, stones and guns to fight, one person used a gun to open fire but fortunately did not hit anyone. At the scene, in front of the karaoke bar's entrance, there were many blood stains along with iron pipes, bricks, stones and a bullet shell.

The victims were Nguyen Dinh Trung (37 years old) and Nguyen Dinh Binh (32 years old), both residing in Nghi Thach commune, Nghi Loc district, who suffered multiple injuries due to being slashed in the head, chest, arms and legs.

3. Using a gun to kill people at a coffee shop

On the evening of August 26, 2016, the subjects including: Dinh Van Tuan (born in 1986, residing in Hamlet 1, Hung Phuc, Hung Nguyen); Hoang Van Hien (born in 1981, residing in Hamlet 7, Hung Thinh, Hung Nguyen); Ho Sy Bang (born in 1991, residing in Hamlet 2, Hung Chinh, Vinh City, Nghe An) invited each other to Thanh Ha coffee shop in Hamlet 5, Hung Chau Commune to play. At that time, Mr. Tran Xuan Hung was watching a game of billiards at the shop. While watching, Mr. Hung had a sudden conflict with this group of subjects.

Relying on his territory and the larger crowd, Tien immediately ran to the car, took a stick about 40 - 50 cm long, and jumped in to beat Hung. At the same time, Bang grabbed a chair in the shop and rushed in to beat Hung. After Hung was knocked down, Tuan pulled a gun from his pocket and shot the victim in the head. The incident happened so quickly that the people present did not have time to intervene. After committing the crime, the subjects quickly got in the car and escaped from the scene.

4. Shot nearly 100 bullets in the back

The incident happened on the night of May 6, 2011 in Cua Nam ward, Vinh city (Nghe An). The victim was Mr. Tran Huu Hanh, residing in Dong Vinh ward, Vinh city, Nghe An.

Mr. Hanh’s family said that on the night of May 6, 2011, Mr. Hanh went to attend a wedding in Cua Nam ward. Seeing two groups of young men fighting, Mr. Hanh went to stop them and was immediately shot by a thug with a homemade gun. After the explosion, Mr. Hanh collapsed on the spot, having received nearly 100 bullets in his back.

5. Student used gun to kill people at Heaven nightclub

The incident occurred on the evening of February 8, 2011 at Heaven nightclub, in the premises of the Labor Club, Vinh City (Nghe An). The victim who was shot dead was Nguyen Tuan Trung (28 years old) in Hong Son Ward, Vinh City. The perpetrator was identified as Nguyen Khac Nhat (18 years old), an 11th grade student at a high school in Nghe An.

At the time of the incident, Trung and Nhat's group of friends were watching a concert at a nightclub. The conflict arose when Trung's group blocked Nhat's group's view.

After a quarrel, one of Trung's group threw a glass cup at Nhat's friend's face, causing him to bleed. Seeing this, Nhat used the gun he was carrying to shoot Trung directly and then ran outside. Trung was taken to the emergency room but died. A few hours later, Nhat was also arrested by the police while hiding in a hotel in Vinh city.

6. Shooting to settle the score in front of Avatar nightclub

Due to conflicts in the protection of nightclubs and hotels in Vinh city (Nghe An), late on September 24, 2013, a group of teenage thugs led by Phan Duc Xuan (born in 1994), also known as Xuan "Xu", residing in Cua Nam ward, carried guns to the house of Dang Dinh Hung (born in 1976), residing in Le Loi ward and fired two shots.

After that, the gang went to the Avatar nightclub lobby, where Hung was the manager, and fired three more shots at him. Then, all five of them rented a car and fled to the South. On the way, although they changed cars twice, when they reached Quang Binh province, the gang was arrested by the Traffic Police of this district.

7. Shooting at karaoke bar in Nghi Duc

A coffee shop and karaoke bar in the suburbs of Vinh City, where a shooting and brawl broke out in the middle of the night, leaving two people seriously injured.

The incident occurred at around 7:45 p.m. on December 23, 2014. Nguyen Van Thanh (born in 1979, residing in Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city) was attending a party with friends at Duc Loc coffee and karaoke shop (Hamlet 12, Nghi Duc). Suddenly, two strange young men appeared in the shop and asked Thanh to come out to talk. When Thanh just stepped out, one of the two young men who had just arrived pulled out a gun and fired three shots at Thanh, causing him to collapse on the spot.

After committing the crime, the two young men tried to flee the scene but were surrounded and beaten by Thanh's group of friends. The person who directly fired the gun was knocked out and unconscious at the scene.

According to information from the investigation agency, the two perpetrators were identified as Tran Van Minh (born in 1982, residing in Nghi Phong commune, Nghi Loc) and his younger brother Tran Van Duc. Minh was the one who held the gun and shot Thanh.
