The speech at the ceremony recalled the tradition of Vietnamese Students' Day. 66 years ago, on January 9, 1950, the National Salvation Youth Union and the Saigon - Cho Lon Student Union mobilized and organized more than 2,000 students from schools, along with many teachers and people of Saigon - Cho Lon to protest to ensure security for students and demand the release of arrested students and the reopening of schools.
