March 8: Kovalevskaia Prize awarded to two female scientists
The 2010 Kovalevskaia Prize will be awarded to two outstanding female scientists in the field of natural sciences.
The above information was announced by the Vietnam Women's Union on March 1.
Former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh presented the Kovaleskaia Prize to the 2009 awardee.
Associate Professor, Dr. Luong Chi Mai - Deputy Director, Head of the Department of Identification and Knowledge Technology, Institute of Information Technology under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Dr. Nguyen Thi Loc - Head of the Department of Insect Ecology and Biological Control - Mekong Delta Rice Institute are the two female scientists who received the award this time.
It is known that Dr. Luong Chi Mai has made contributions in the field of information technology. Dr. Nguyen Thi Loc has been known for many useful scientific and technological topics at the ministerial, national and international levels, related to the fields of cultivation, plant protection and agricultural biotechnology.
The Kovalevskaia Prize Foundation honors outstanding individuals and groups of female scientists in the field of natural sciences.
The Kovalevskaia Prize award ceremony will be held in Hanoi on March 8, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of International Women's Day.
