8 easy ways to cool a room with just a fan
Installing a window fan will help remove hot air from your home at night.
1. Open at night

This type of window fan is very effective in bringing cool air into the house and pushing hot air out. |
During the hottest part of the day, it will be cooler outside than inside your home at night. Place a standing fan in front of an open window (or turn on a window fan) and turn it on to draw cool air into your home.
2. Close the doors during the day
This will keep the heat out of your home. Keep your doors closed, your curtains drawn, and your home an oasis. If possible, install ceiling fans and window fans to create convection currents – hot air out, cool air in.
3. Use ice

Place a fan in front of an ice tray on your table. Blow the fan toward the area you want to cool. This is cheap and effective. You can do the same thing if you want to sleep cool at night.
4. Consider installing the fan properly
For a small bedroom, you can install a 6-blade ceiling fan with blades 1-1.2 meters long, and for a large space, you should install a fan with blades 1.4 meters long.
5. Close off unused parts of the house
If you live in the coolest room in the house, close the doors to the rest of the room so the fan doesn’t have to work too hard. Turn on the bathroom exhaust fan after showering to minimize the steam and heat that comes from there.
6. Using the stove
Turn on the kitchen exhaust fan while cooking to expel some of the heat from the house.
7. Turn off unnecessary electrical equipment
Most electrical devices generate heat when in use. Turn off your computer, TV, etc. instead of leaving them on standby, and only turn them on when needed. The same goes for light bulbs.
8. Do not use wall fans

Small blade standing fans cool more effectively than wall fans. |
Wall fans are space-efficient, but they won’t cool the entire room as well as a standing fan. If your space is limited, choose a small-bladed standing fan and place it next to your bed or desk.
