Kumquat drink recipe to cool down on hot days, easy to make and delicious
On a hot day, a glass of sweet and sour kumquat juice will instantly cool you down and energize your body.
On hot days, the body often feels lethargic, dehydrated and irritable. A cool, refreshing drink will immediately “cool down” and give you more energy. Among the summer ingredients, kumquats, which are in their final season, are the “stars” of these days.

Kumquat – a small, golden fruit with a sweet and sour taste mixed with a little astringency, and a characteristic refreshing aroma – is not only delicious but also helps to cool down and purify the body. In particular, when transformed into syrup or mixed with tea, the flavor of kumquat becomes extremely attractive.

Below are 2 recipes for drinks made from kumquat, easy to make and suitable for all family members.
1. Kumquat syrup – “golden ingredient” for hot days
Ingredient:
- 2kg kumquat
- 200g rock sugar
- 5g salt
- 2 tablespoons honey
Making:
- Wash kumquats with diluted salt water, drain. Gently squeeze out the seeds but keep the flesh and skin intact.
- Add kumquat to the pot with rock sugar, salt, stir gently. Cook over low heat until sugar dissolves, mixture thickens, add honey, stir well and turn off heat.

Finished product: Golden syrup, fragrant with essential oil of the peel, harmonious sweet and sour taste. Can be mixed with filtered water, tea, or mixed with fruit to quench thirst and cool down. Can be preserved for up to 1 year if kept in a cool place.
2. Kumquat Oolong Tea – Cool and refreshing
Ingredient:
- 1.5 tablespoons kumquat syrup
- A pinch of oolong tea
- 200ml boiling water
- Ice cubes, lemon slices for decoration

How to mix:
- Steep oolong tea for 3–5 minutes, strain out the residue.
- Mix kumquat syrup with a little water, then pour in oolong tea, stir well. Add ice and lemon slice for decoration.
Finished product: The light astringency of oolong tea combined with the sweet and sour aroma of kumquat creates a drink that both cools the body and helps to keep the mind alert.
With just kumquat and a few simple steps, you have a recipe for a refreshing summer drink that is both delicious and good for your health.
