8 eating mistakes of mothers that slow fetal development
Pregnancy is a time when the mother's body will have many changes, so eating habits also need to be adjusted so as not to affect the health of the mother and the fetus.
Below are 8 nutritional mistakes that pregnant mothers need to avoid:

1. Eating too much fat
Many scientists believe that breast cancer, ovarian cancer and cervical cancer have genetic factors. If pregnant women often eat fat during pregnancy, it will increase the possibility of their daughters suffering from reproductive diseases in the future. Scientists also say that fat itself does not lead to cancer, but if used for a long time, it will increase the amount of acid and cholesterol in the stomach. This is not only harmful to the stomach, but also stimulates prolactin synthesis, causing breast cancer, ovarian cancer and cervical cancer.
2. Provides lots of protein
During pregnancy, if the mother is not provided with enough protein, it can easily lead to body weakness, slow fetal development, and long recovery after birth. Every day, the mother needs about 90g to 100g of protein. However, if the amount of protein provided to the body is excessive, it will affect the mother's appetite, making other substances difficult to absorb and causing nutritional imbalance. According to research, too much protein will produce Hydrogen Sulfide, Histamine and some other harmful compounds, causing bloating, loss of appetite, dizziness...
3. Eat a lot of sugar
The Pisa Institute in Italy has discovered that when the blood sugar level in the pregnant woman's body is high, the possibility of the baby being born overweight, having birth defects, pregnancy poisoning or having to have a cesarean section increases 4 times, 8 times and 2 times respectively compared to pregnant women with low blood sugar levels. On the other hand, high blood sugar levels will reduce immunity, making pregnant women susceptible to bacteria and viruses, negatively affecting the fetus.
4. Excess calcium supplementation
Calcium and vitamins are two substances that are extremely necessary for the body of pregnant women, but "blindly" eating foods that supplement calcium, for the fetus, is more harmful than beneficial. During the early stages of pregnancy, pregnant mothers should only supplement about 800mg of calcium per day, gradually increasing to about 1100mg and supplementing from natural foods such as fish, meat, eggs... Using too much calcium can lead to premature closure of the fontanel, protruding jawbone, and a small aorta...
5. Eat a lot of acidic foods
During early pregnancy, pregnant women often experience symptoms such as picky eating, loss of appetite, nausea, etc. Many pregnant women also crave sour foods. However, according to a study in Germany, early pregnancy is an important period for the baby to form, the fetus is very susceptible to absorbing acid from the mother's body. This negatively affects the formation of the fetus, increasing the possibility of fetal malformation. By the end of pregnancy, the acidity in the fetus is equivalent to that of the mother's body, so it is less affected by the acidity of the mother's food. Therefore, during the first 2 weeks of pregnancy, pregnant women should minimize eating foods and medications containing acid to protect the baby's formation.
6. Nourish with "hot" foods
During pregnancy, the blood in the body will circulate faster, blood circulation increases, causing the heart to shoulder a heavier load, the cervix, vagina, fallopian tubes and many other reproductive organs will expand. This is followed by phenomena such as water retention, high blood pressure... This period is also not suitable for pregnant mothers to supplement "hot" foods such as ginseng, or fruits such as longan, peach, lychee, plum, guava, star apple...
7, Drink lots of tea
Since ancient times, green tea has been considered a health-enhancing drink because of its wonderful benefits such as cooling, curing diseases, slowing down aging... However, if pregnant women drink too much tea, it will affect the body's absorption of iron. In addition, green tea leaves also contain stimulants. Drinking too strong tea will lead to insomnia, rapid heartbeat... thereby indirectly affecting the health of the fetus. A study in Japan showed that if pregnant women drink 5 cups of strong tea every day, it will reduce the weight of the fetus. The appropriate amount of tea for pregnant women is about 2-3 cups of tea made from 3-5 green tea leaves per day.
8. Eat cold food
In the hot summer, there is nothing better than sipping a cool glass of ice cream or drinking drinks kept in the freezer. However, for pregnant mothers, because the placenta produces a large amount of progestogen, it reduces the endurance of smooth muscles in the stomach and intestines, leading to a decrease in gastric acid secretion, weak intestinal and stomach motility. Therefore, the digestive system is very sensitive to hot and cold stimuli. If pregnant women eat a large amount of cold food in a short time, it will cause the blood vessels of the stomach and intestines to suddenly contract, gastric juice secretion will decrease, and digestive function will decrease. This will lead to loss of appetite, indigestion, bloating, etc.
