8 months suspended sentence for a judicial officer for beating his wife
(Baonghean) - On December 30, the People's Court of Nghia Dan district (Nghe An) tried Bui Duc Phu (born in 1971), a judicial officer of Nghia Dan district, residing in Nghia Hong commune, Nghia Dan district, on the charge of "intentionally causing injury".
According to the indictment, at around 8:00 p.m. on March 21, 2008, Bui Duc Phu went to his ex-wife Dinh Thi Hai Ly's house and the two sides had a conflict. Phu twisted Ly's left arm behind her back, dislocating her shoulder, causing a 25% disability. However, Phu later showed irresponsibility towards the victim. Furthermore, Phu worked in law enforcement but violated the law. The People's Court sentenced Bui Duc Phu to 8 months of suspended imprisonment and ordered him to compensate Ly 20 million VND.
