Mr. Tan works as a construction worker and often travels to work sites, so he only comes home once a week. Ms. An stays home to take care of her young child and her father, who has been bedridden for many years due to a stroke.

On October 15, 2014, the couple had a conflict, so Mr. Tan threatened to divorce and took his clothes and left for his workplace.

At around 9pm on October 16, 2014, while An was putting clothes in the closet, she heard the neighbor's dog barking. Thinking that her husband had come home to take their child away and thinking about the difficult situation of the family, An had the idea of ​​killing her child and then committing suicide so that they could be together.

At this time, An went down to the kitchen to get a knife and then went into the bedroom and locked the door. Seeing his daughter sleeping, An took a pillow and pressed it hard on Thu's face. Knowing that Thu was dead, An took the knife and committed suicide. But seeing that the blood was flowing out little and fearing that he would not die, An took a piece of electric wire and hanged himself.

At 1:00 p.m. on October 17, 2013, Ms. An's neighbors discovered the incident and immediately reported it to the authorities. Ms. An and her daughter were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. At this time, Thu had died, An was lucky to escape death.
