Runner-up Huong Ly speaks out about dating rumors with the President of Miss Universe Vietnam

In her role as national director, Huong Ly said she was happy that Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 had found a worthy new beauty queen. According to the 9X model, Ky Duyen had an outstanding performance that inspired her. "I think Ky Duyen knows what she is doing and knows how to score points at the right time," she said.

Regarding the preparation plan for Ky Duyen's international "conquest" journey, Huong Ly said she is trying to increase as many opportunities as possible. In her role as national director, the 1995-born model will discuss with the Miss Universe organization to help the beauty queen from Nam Dinh get closer to the competition's criteria.

“I also set a goal for Ky Duyen to at least become a bright candidate in the Asian region. I also pay attention to competitions such as voting. The more opportunities I increase, the more my representative has the ability to shine. I find ways to help Ky Duyen feel comfortable but also in line with the strategy that the organization is setting out," Huong Ly expressed.

Having spent many years pursuing her dream of Miss Universe, Huong Ly assessed that Duyen meets all the criteria, just needs to cultivate to have more motivation, confidence and have clear goals. "We do not focus on results, but we set goals for Duyen to strive for. We choose to listen to Duyen's wishes, at the same time express our wishes so that both can find a common voice," she frankly said.

Before Ky Duyen, for two consecutive years, contestants from Vietnam did not advance far in Miss Universe. However, Huong Ly was not pressured by this because she believed in Ky Duyen's performance. "She is a person with great desire, wanting to compete internationally for the past 10 years. I believe that is a great source of motivation. Because in the final night, Ky Duyen scored at the right time. She knows when she needs to shine. I believe in Duyen's intelligence, just with what you show, you will make everyone proud," Huong Ly said.

Following Huong Ly's journey as national director, many people think that she has not shown her full potential. Some even harshly commented calling the beauty from Gia Lai a "scarecrow". Talking about this point of view, the model born in 1995 frankly said: "I am not afraid because I know who I am and what I am doing. The company always recognizes my efforts. That is why President Valentin always trusts me in many different activities. I think I just do my job well to help build a solid foundation for Miss Universe Vietnam rather than people's views on me personally".

When asked if she wanted to compete in Miss Universe Vietnam 2025, Huong Ly said she had no intention of doing so. According to the Gia Lai beauty, she understands her strengths and weaknesses. “The dream is still there, but the way I do it will be different. I will pass on my love and what I want to Ky Duyen. We both share the same ideal,” she said.

Huong Ly maintains a clear view between her private life and her work. When faced with rumors of dating President Valentin Tran, the female model denied it. She said the two were close friends. “When I was in a transition period with other fields, it was fortunate that Mr. Valentin also wanted me to accompany him to understand more about the art world. I also learned a lot of experience in business. At that time, I felt like I met a teacher, a friend that I loved very much, so I felt comfortable and open with each other,” she expressed.
