Runner-up of Foreign Trade University, Hanoi: "Studying requires persistent effort!"
Achieving a score of 10 in Math, Nguyen Anh Tuan (student of class 12A2, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted) became the only candidate in the province and one of two candidates to achieve a perfect score in Math; one of eight runners-up of Hanoi Foreign Trade University with a total score of 28.5 (Math 10; Chemistry 9.5; Physics 9).

Tuan is the second child in a family in Ha Huy Tap ward (Vinh city). Both parents are involved in the economic field, busy all day, so Tuan always has to be independent in studying as well as in life. Although after finishing primary school, Anh Tuan passed the entrance exam to Dang Thai Mai Secondary School, he chose to study at Ha Huy Tap Secondary School, a few dozen steps from home, going there and back by himself; then going to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Tuan also rode his bike to and from home by himself. Studying by himself, Tuan always studied very well. During 5 years of primary school, he was always an excellent student, in particular in grade 5, Tuan won third prize in Math at the provincial level and continued to win third prize in Math at the city level in grade 9. During 3 years of studying at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Anh Tuan always tried with high will and determination to study with the motto: "Study and study to the best of my ability and must strive persistently".
Anh Tuan's yearly final scores in all subjects are above 8.0; Physics and Chemistry are above 9.0, Math is 9.8 - 9.9. The homeroom teacher of class 12A2, Tran Duc Sau, is very proud of his favorite student: "What is admirable about Anh Tuan is that he is obedient and tries very hard in his studies, especially he has a very good method of organizing group study to supplement knowledge between friends. Anh Tuan is also a very active, proactive, and enthusiastic student in the movements of the class and the school, and is also the artistic nucleus and soccer player of the class!"
Sharing his study secrets, Anh Tuan said: "Before learning a new lesson in class, I always read and learn at home, when I come to class, I try to listen and absorb all the lectures, if there is any problem I don't understand, I go to the teacher to find out, even discuss to understand it completely and fully. During the learning process, I always divide my study time equally for all subjects and mainly study at school, study at home, except for some weak problems, then I study extra to make up for it.
For me, I do not focus on achievements, that easily creates psychological pressure for me, but the main thing is to study and acquire knowledge for myself. Therefore, although I try to study all subjects equally, I still invest more in Math, because being good at Math is a condition to develop thinking, quick judgment, and logical thinking skills. I really appreciate and take as motivation to study from the sayings: "Success is a journey, not a destination", or "If you want to do something, you should not start tomorrow but start yesterday"; "The shortest answer is action".
It can be said that Anh Tuan's achievements today are the result of 12 years of hard work in high school. And now Anh Tuan's goal is to continue studying to have the opportunity to study abroad and access knowledge in a broader environment, to become a good economist to contribute to the development of his homeland and country."
