AFF Cup 2014: Vietnam is lucky to avoid Thailand
Vietnam only has to meet the Philippines and Indonesia in the group stage of the AFF Cup 2014 while group B is almost a group of death with Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
In the draw ceremony that just ended a few minutes ago, the Vietnamese team avoided the group of death when they fell into group A with two familiar opponents, the Philippines and Indonesia.
This is a result that satisfied Vietnamese fans because these are two opponents that Vietnam team often wins when facing directly. Although at AFF Cup 2012, it was the Philippines that eliminated Vietnam right from the group stage after a 1-0 victory with the only goal of Caligdong, at the present time, the Philippines team no longer plays the same annoying football as before.
Indonesia is also in the process of rejuvenating its squad under new head coach Alfred Riedl, who has become a familiar face in Southeast Asian football. Although the goal is to win the championship, the "second-place king" curse will not easily leave the Austrian coach.

Quite surprisingly, after the draw, striker Le Cong Vinh said that the Vietnamese team fell into the group of death because the Philippines is currently the leader of Southeast Asia, and Indonesia always knows how to cause difficulties for the red army whenever they meet.
Giving a similar opinion, Myanmar coach Avramovic shared that the level of teams in the region is not too far apart and even Myanmar, despite having to compete in the qualifying round, is still ready to accept any opponent at the AFF Cup 2014.
