Afghanistan: Wedding bombing kills 22

On the morning of July 14, in Samangan province in the NorthAfghanistanA suicide bombing targeted a wedding, killing at least 22 people and injuring more than 40.

A spokesman for Samangan province said the attack happened at around 8 a.m. local time (10:30 a.m. Vietnam time) targeting the wedding of the daughter of MP Ahamd Khan Samangani.

Among those killed were MP Samangani and an Afghan intelligence official.

The attack occurred in the context that Pakistan has just agreed to reopen logistical supply routes for NATO forces in Afghanistan and Western countries are accelerating plans to withdraw troops from this battlefield by the end of 2014./.
