According to Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security (NDS), the Taliban appear to intend to close schools before foreign combat troops withdraw in 2014.
Afghanistan's Ministry of Education said last week that 550 schools in 11 provinces where the Taliban enjoys strong support had been closed by the insurgents.
Last month, 150 female students in Takhar province were also poisoned after drinking contaminated water./.
