Sergio Aguero's timely brilliance helped Man City win 2-1 against Manchester United right at Old Trafford, in the latest match of round 32 of the Premier League. James Milner opened the scoring but just 7 minutes later Kompany scored an own goal after a header by Phil Jones.

The victory shortened the gap to 12 points, but Man City still found it difficult to win the championship, when there are only 7 more rounds left in the season.

However, this honorable victory helps Man City hold their heads high, even though they cannot defend their title. This is also the second consecutive victory of coach Roberto Mancini and his team at Old Trafford, after the 6-1 massacre last season.

That defeat was considered Manchester United's worst defeat under Sir Alex Ferguson and the Red Devils' most terrible defeat against their hated neighbors, since losing by the same score in... 1926, also at home.

Going into this first match, coach Alex Ferguson decided to field his strongest lineup. In attack, the trio he trusted was Rooney-Van Persie, while the midfield featured names like Young, Carrick, Giggs and Welbeck.

At Man City, Roberto Mancini decided to put his faith in Carlos Tevez instead of Sergio Aguero in the starting lineup.

Immediately after the opening whistle, the 165th Manchester derby took place with great excitement. Danny Welbeck was the one who fired the first shot and immediately Man City responded with an extremely dangerous attack on the right wing, ending with a cross from James Milner.

In the 3rd minute, Manchester United had a very dangerous counter-attack, but Welbeck could not get past the away team's defender. Immediately after, Milner once again showed his danger with a very strong shot, forcing De Dea to block.

After a lively opening few minutes, Manchester United started to slow down to maintain control of the game. In the 9th minute, van Persie had a chance to shoot but his shot went wide of Joe Hart's goal.

In the following minutes, Man City was in control of the game. The away team's high-pressing play made it difficult for the Red Devils to develop the ball.

In the 25th minute, Silva shot right outside the Manchester United penalty area, the ball hit Ryan Giggs' hand but no whistle was blown. Immediately after, Nasri had a chance to shoot but his shot was inaccurate.

In the 31st minute, van Persie took a very dangerous free kick, forcing Zabaleta to quickly clear the ball.

In the 38th minute, Ashley Young quickly ran down and fired a powerful shot towards Man City's goal, but luckily for the away team, Nastasic was there to block it.

In the final minutes of the first half, Man City suddenly slowed down, creating conditions for Manchester United to attack Joe Hart's goal.

In the 45+1 minute, Rafael had a delicate finish after receiving a header from Robin van Persie. The first half ended with a 0-0 draw.

In the first minutes of the second half, Manchester United took the initiative to play high and create trouble towards Joe Hart's goal. Meanwhile, Man City slowed down a bit to control the home team's play.

And in the first attack in the 52nd minute, James Milner scored against De Gea with a powerful shot from outside the box. However, the biggest credit for this move came from Barry stealing the ball from Giggs to launch the attack.

Immediately after conceding the goal, the home team played higher to find the equalizer. In the 59th minute, Manchester United also got what they wanted, when Phil Jones headed a free kick from van Persie that hit Kompany and went into the goal, 1-1 for the Red Devils.

Two goals came within a few minutes, making the match much more exciting with both teams giving and receiving.

In the excitement after the equalizer, Manchester United continuously attacked to find the second goal in this match. However, the home team's strikers still could not fully demonstrate their strength.

In the 71st minute, David Silva made a delicate pass to Nasri, but the French midfielder's difficult shot could not be successful. Immediately after this move, Nasri left the field to make way for Sergio Aguero.

This substitution by Roberto Mancini paid off. In the 79th minute, Aguero broke through the penalty area, then fired a decisive shot that defeated goalkeeper De Gea, raising the score to 2-1 for Man City.

In the 82nd minute, Ryan Giggs passed the ball intelligently for van Persie to run down and finish, but the Dutch striker still could not escape the bad luck that has haunted him for the past 9 matches in a Manchester United shirt.

Witnessing what happened on the field, Sir Alex decided to put Javier Hernandez on the field to replace Rooney, hoping that the Mexican striker's luck would help the Red Devils gain points at home.

The final minutes of the match were extremely tense, with disputes and fouls between players from both teams, forcing the referee to use cards to cool things down.

In the 90+2 minute, Kagawa was brought on to replace Ashley Young. The English player was injured after a dispute with Zabaleta.

In the final minute of the match, Evra headed the ball into the box but could not beat Joe Hart. That was also the last move of the match and Manchester United had to accept defeat.
