In a statement, Egyptian Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el-Damaty said that researchers from the ministry, along with experts from the Italian-Egyptian Archaeological and Restoration Center and the Italian universities of Padova and Siena, conducted an investigation and discovered the ancient city near the town of Rosetta in the Beheira province in the Nile Delta region.

The team of archaeologists found several buildings surrounding a large rectangular structure, which was likely the city's main temple.

The results of these surveys also show the layout of two distinct parts of the ancient city.

The lower part is believed to date from the early Hellenistic period (332–30 BC), while the upper part most likely dates from the late Hellenistic–early Roman Empire period (30 BC–395 AD).

Head of the Egyptian archaeological team, Dr. Mohamed Kenawy, said initial survey results at this ancient city showed that the city could have been built during the Late Period (664-332 BC) and lasted until the Roman Empire./.
