Previously, the court had postponed the trials many times since the journalists of the TV channel - including Mohamed Fahmy (Canada), Baher Mohamed (Egypt), Peter Greste (Australia) - were arrested in December 2013.
In 2014, an Egyptian judge sentenced Greste and Fahmy to seven years in prison, while sentencing Mohamed to 10 years.
On the same day, Canada expressed disappointment with the sentence given to Mr. Mohamed Fahmy and called for the immediate release of this journalist.
Meanwhile, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said she felt "disappointed" with the Egyptian Court's ruling.
UK Minister for Middle East and North Africa Affairs Tobias Ellwood also stated: "These sentences will destroy confidence in Egypt's efforts towards long-term and sustainable stability, based on the implementation of the rights stipulated in its constitution."
The European Union (EU) issued a statement on the same day calling the Cairo Court's ruling "a step backward for freedom of speech in Egypt"./.
