(Baonghean) - Having been present in Vietnam for just over 12 years, AIA has affirmed its reputation as a prestigious brand in the market due to its superior service and product quality. AIA Vietnam has also recently expanded its business by opening its third General Agency Office in Vinh City, Nghe An Province. On this occasion, Nghe An Newspaper had a conversation with Mr. Stephen Clark, General Director of AIA Vietnam.

PV: It is known that AIA Vietnam
Mr. Stephen Clark: There are many things we need to do before we can be considered the most loved life insurance company. However, having the right people, doing the right things, in the right way and consistently will help us achieve our goals. Once we are determined to be the number one choice company for customers and agents, we will have achieved our goals. We have always set high standards for AIA Vietnam, but I have no doubt that we can achieve and even exceed those standards.
PV: It is known that AIA Vietnam
Mr. Stephen Clark: Premier Agents are our full-time sales force. This elite group of agents has built a career in the insurance business and to become Premier Agents, they have demonstrated a high level of commitment and customer focus. Therefore, the benefits of being a Premier Agent are also great.
Currently about a third of our new sales are from Premier Agents, but in the long term our goal is for the majority of our sales from the physical agency channel to be from Premier Agents. We are constantly looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to join and help AIA Vietnam

PV: 2011 was a year of global economic instability, however AIA still achieved impressive business results. Could you share with us some of the achievements of AIA Group as well as AIA Vietnam?
Mr. Stephen Clark: Although 2011 was a difficult year for many businesses, AIA Group achieved a record growth rate with the value of new business (VONB) increasing by 40% compared to the same period last year. Profit after tax from business activities (OPAT) increased by 13% and New Annual Premium (ANP) increased by 22%. For AIA Vietnam
PV: This year, many experts predict that the world economy will continue to have instability, including the Vietnamese economy.
Mr. Stephen Clark: The goal of every insurance company is to help people address the imbalance between their need for insurance protection and the actual level of insurance they have. AIA is at the forefront of addressing this issue not only in the Vietnamese market but also across Asia. To achieve this goal, in Vietnam, AIA continues to focus on professionalizing its agents and leadership team. We organize regular training and sales support to help them acquire the necessary skills to provide the best financial advice to many customers. We also constantly enhance and improve our products and customer care services. Through this, AIA can help the public better understand and accept the insurance products and solutions that we can provide. This will encourage more people to participate in insurance.

PV: One last question, how do you evaluate the potential for insurance market development in Nghe An?
Mr. Stephen Clark: In Nghe An, AIA has 3 General Agency Offices, which confirms our determination to promote business in this market. Nghe An is one of the localities with the most dynamic economic development; large population and a tradition of learning. When people's awareness increases and income improves, it is also the time when people here have the need to carefully plan their finances and protect themselves appropriately.
Experienced and well-trained AIA agents must be available to help customers with this important planning process. Therefore, we are looking to recruit and train more agents to strengthen our current sales team. AIA Vietnam
