Alex Ferguson praises Ronaldo, criticizes Messi for lacking comprehensiveness

Former Man Utd coach believes Cristiano Ronaldo can play successfully for any club in the world.

Ronaldo and Messi have shared the Ballon d'Or for the past seven years. This season, the individual race between the two players is also balanced with approximately 50 goals each. However, according to Sir Alex Ferguson, Ronaldo is still of a higher class than Messi.

"Ronaldo can play for any club, whether it's Millwall, QPR or Doncaster Rovers. I'm not sure Messi can do that. Besides, Ronaldo is also a complete player, playing well with both feet, good in the air and has a very high will to compete. Of course, Messi is also very commendable, but I think he only plays well in a Barca shirt," the legendary Man Utd coach said in an interview on April 25.

The legendary former Man Utd coach also confirmed that Ronaldo was the player he liked the most during his nearly 27 years working at Old Trafford. The Portuguese superstar was recruited by Ferguson to Man Utd in the summer of 2003 and has continuously improved since then.

"When he came to Man Utd, Ronaldo was only 17 years old. After that, he continued to surprise me. The most important thing in a great player is making decisions on the pitch and Ronaldo improved throughout his time at Man Utd. Ronaldo, Giggs and Paul Scholes were the three best players I coached at Old Trafford. Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Eric Cantona were also great players but did not reach this level," said Ferguson.

Ronaldo has made steady progress since being coached by Ferguson at Man Utd in the summer of 2003 until now.
