According to Mr. Noureddine Bedoui, by applying information technology to administrative management, e-government not only creates friendliness between the government and the people, reduces cumbersome administrative procedures but also actively contributes to the fight against illegal activities and corruption.
Mr. Noureddine Bedoui added that on September 7, the Algerian Government started a pilot program to issue biometric passports in 16 of the 57 districts of Algiers city, and opened biometric data rooms in the districts of El Biar, Khraicia, Ouled Chebel, Reghaia, Heuraoua, Ain Taya and the center of Algiers.
Meanwhile, Algerian citizens both at home and abroad can apply for passports by accessing the website of the Ministry of Interior. Through the SMS system, the government allows people to track the processing of their applications, correct errors in the passport application process and know when they will receive their passports.
In the near future, the Algerian Ministry of Interior will launch programs to issue biometric identity cards, driving licenses and vehicle registration.
