“Every race is not easy, especially the German Grand Prix. We may not have been the fastest in the dry conditions, but we fought hard and stayed in the lead before winning,” said Fernando Alonso after winning the 2012 German GP.
Faced with the fierce pursuit of Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel and especially McLaren's Jenson Button throughout the race, Alonso had a reasonable strategy. Thanks to the appropriate strategy, last season's runner-up won this year's championship after 1 hour 1 minute 19.044 seconds. Alonso finished first and was 6.949 seconds ahead of second-placed Vettel and 16.409 seconds ahead of Button. Fernando Alonso's victory also helped Ferrari become the best racing team with 21 championships at the German GP, far surpassing the 9 championships of Williams and McLaren (8 times).
“The right strategy from the team gave me a good start and I was always in the lead. I knew that the race was long and it would be difficult to finish first with Button chasing me so hard. However, a good sense of space and a reasonable pace brought me success after the sixth lap. After that, although it was not easy, I still finished the race in first place,” said Alonso.
With the championship title just won, the 31-year-old Spanish racer continues to hold the number 1 position in the overall rankings with 154 points, 34 points more than the second-placed Mark Webber. On July 29, Formula I racers will continue to aim for the Eni Magyar Nagydij race in Hungary.
