Warm grains of love
(Baonghean.vn) - Ms. Duong Thi Luong, President of the Women's Union of Nghia Khanh commune, said: The movement "Rice savings jar" and "Following Uncle Ho's words" has received positive attention and response from all member families in the commune since its launch because of its practicality.
To bring the movement into life and become a daily routine, the Commune Women's Union has assigned specific responsibilities to each Union official. Realizing the role and significance of the "Rice Saving Jar", the officials and members of the whole commune have together organized and implemented it very effectively.
Based on the "Rice Saving Jar" movement, the Commune Women's Union has expanded the model from rice jars in families to form and organize the placement of "Rice Saving Jars" at households providing rice milling services in the locality to receive rice grains from households each time they bring rice to mill. Each family, each time they come to mill rice, voluntarily puts a few handfuls of rice in the jar placed in the corner of the house where the milling machine is located, considering this as their responsibility to the community. Up to this point, in the area, there have been 4 branches organizing the placement of "following Uncle Ho's words" rice saving jars at milling service points.
A very effective location for the "Rice Saving Jar" in Con Nai hamlet - Nghia Khanh commune - Nghia Dan district
It is not necessary to follow a specific schedule, because it depends on the season. But each time the mill owner reports that the rice jar is full, the Commune Women's Union sends staff to work with the mill owner to directly weigh and record the specific quantity to be put into the Association's fund. Based on the list of reports from each branch about the member families in need of support, this amount of rice is divided clearly and distributed directly to the members in need.
Depending on the circumstances, sometimes this amount of saved rice is converted into money for support. This is also a very interesting form of relief work. Little by little, each family rice jar, each rice jar placed at the milling service... "a little bit makes a lot", so far the rice saving jar movement has collected over 3 tons of rice. All of this rice is given directly to the families of members in difficult circumstances and has really brought about effectiveness in their lives.
Typical of this movement are the women's associations of Dong Dai hamlet, Con Nai hamlet, Tho Loi hamlet, Mai village, Troi hamlet, Hong Khanh... From the "Rice Saving Jar" movement following Uncle Ho's words, in the 2011-2015 term, the Women's Association of Nghia Khanh commune built and launched the "Pink Brick" movement to support member families to build houses with the goal of eliminating thatched and dilapidated houses. With each member voluntarily contributing 2,000 VND per month (equivalent to one brick), up to now all members have contributed over 3 million VND. This amount is being considered and organized to support poor members in need. This is a very practical content that needs to be replicated to contribute to the implementation of the new rural construction movement in the countryside.
The grains of love rice from the "Rice Saving Jar" movement following Uncle Ho's words really warmed the hearts of the needy families of the association members. This is one of the outstanding activities of the women's association, contributing to the overall achievements of the Party Committee and people of Nghia Khanh commune in recent years. This is also the outstanding achievement for the Women's Association of Nghia Khanh commune to be awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union for 4 consecutive years, becoming one of the outstanding typical units of Nghia Dan district.
