Indian Navy sources said the country's navy has officially begun work on designing and building its second "indigenous" aircraft carrier.
A study group, headed by Vice Admiral Surinder Ahuja, Deputy Project Manager of the aircraft carrier project, has been set up to identify Indian shipyards capable of participating in the project to build the second indigenous aircraft carrier.
The decision to invite the US to participate in technological cooperation to build aircraft carriers was made during the two-day visit to India by US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Biswal, to prepare for the bilateral strategic dialogue as well as the first US-India strategic and trade dialogue in Washington next September./.
