However, in the new study, scientists at McGill University in Montreal, Canada studied 127 adults with high cholesterol. Some subjects were given yogurt containing L. reuteri NCIMB 30242 twice a day while the other group was given a placebo.
After 9 weeks, the results showed that the subjects taking the probiotics had 11.6% lower LDL levels than the placebo group. In addition, probiotics also play an important role in the treatment of chronic diseases such as heart disease.
