Ancelotti is about to flee Bayern to China?
Bayern legend Mario Basler believes coach Carlo Ancelotti could leave the Bundesliga in January 2018.
"Someone told me that Carlo Ancelotti has signed a contract with a Chinese team," Basler told Sport1. "He will probably leave in January next year, when the Chinese Super League (CSL) starts its new season. I can't say 100% for sure, but my sources are reliable."
Basler played 78 matches for Bayern, playing alongside club legends such as Oliver Kahn, Stefan Effenberg and Mehmet Scholl.

Mario Basler was a mainstay of Bayern's run to the 1999 Champions League final, where he scored the opening goal from a free kick, but still lost 1-2 to Man Utd. |
Coach Ancelotti took charge of Bayern since last summer, replacing Pep Guardiola. He led Bayern to their fifth consecutive Bundesliga title, but they were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League by their former club Real Madrid. Bayern also lost to Dortmund in the semi-finals of the National Cup.
Bayern have had a poor summer, losing regularly in friendly matches. Ancelotti's team just suffered their first defeat of the new season, a 0-2 loss to Hoffenheim.
Bayern have not won the Champions League in the last four seasons, since their triumph under the guidance of domestic coach Jupp Heynckes. The club's board of directors wanted to rely on Ancelotti's experience in European competition, but his performance last season was worse than Pep Guardiola's, his predecessor who always helped Bayern reach the Champions League semi-finals.
If he cannot help Bayern achieve good results in Europe this season, Ancelotti will likely leave early before the end of his three-year contract.

Ancelotti has not met Bayern's expectations. |
Mario Basler's rumor that Ancelotti will go to China in January 2018 comes at a time when Bayern are struggling. They have just suffered their first defeat in the Bundesliga this season, with a 0-2 loss at Hoffenheim in the third round. This is a very poor preparation for Ancelotti and his team when they need a boost to start their campaign to conquer the Champions League with a home match against Anderlecht tomorrow, September 12.
Bayern does not seem to be the ideal land for Italian coaches. In the past, Giovanni Trapattoni was also invited to the hot seat of Bayern with great expectations. But after only two seasons without a title in the Champions League, Trapattoni was also pushed out.
