England 0-0 Costa Rica: The Three Lions bow out of the tournament
England's bid for a World Cup farewell win fell short as they were beaten by a Costa Rica side that remained focused and resilient until the very end.

Both England (in white) and Costa Rica were powerless to find a way into the opponent's goal. |
Entering the match with only honor, Coach Roy Hodgson decided to change the entire Three Lions. There were 9 changes in the England squad compared to the previous match. All brought the hope that the Three Lions would have a victory to at least leave the World Cup with a little honor.
However, disappointment was still disappointment. England could not control the game against a Costa Rica full of confidence and scientific in defense. The only bright spot that England created came from the position of Frank Lampard. He was the player Hodgson used to replace Gerrard and the Chelsea midfielder showed that he should have been used in the previous matches.
Lampard's passing accuracy rate was up to 95%, the highest since the beginning of the World Cup. Unfortunately, Lampard alone was not enough to change the face of the Three Lions. Even when Rooney and Sterling entered the field, England still could not find a way to penetrate the Costa Rican goal.
Drawing 0-0 in the final match of the 2014 World Cup, England left Brazil without winning a single match. This is certainly the most disappointing result in the history of English football at the World Cup.
