England entered the match against Switzerland determined to win and end a series of three consecutive defeats in all competitions. However, in the 7th minute, the Three Lions almost conceded a goal due to a careless mistake in defense.
Receiving a pass from goalkeeper Jack Butland, centre-back James Tarkowski fumbled and Granit Xhaka stole the ball. The Arsenal player immediately set up Xherdan Shaqiri to run down and face him. However, unfortunately, the 26-year-old star shot wide. A situation that made England fans gasp.
England had a few chances to attack afterwards but they were not very dangerous. On the contrary, Switzerland always put Butland's goal in a state of alarm, especially with attacks from the left flank, where Ricardo Rodríguez appeared. On more than two occasions, the Milan defender had dangerous dribbles and kicks.

However, as Switzerland's chances continued to slip away, England proved to be the better team to convert them. In the 54th minute, from a corner kick on the left wing, the ball was hung into the penalty area and found Kyle Walker waiting on the right wing.
The former Tottenham defender made a wonderful pass to Marcus Rashford, who was unmarked and easily scored against Switzerland. This was the second consecutive goal after two matches that coach Gareth Southgate started for the 1997-born star.
Receiving a painful slap, Switzerland tried their best to find an equalizer but could not penetrate England's well-organized defense. In the end, the Three Lions won 1-0 to end a streak of 3 losses on all fronts.
In other notable friendly matches, Japan defeated Costa Rica 3-0. This was also the score of the match between Northern Ireland and Israel. Meanwhile, Poland was held to a 1-1 draw by the Republic of Ireland at home.
