Twin brothers strangle and smash taxi driver's head to rob him
After strangling the taxi driver with a rope, the twins used an iron bar to hit him in the head, knocking him unconscious. They rummaged through the driver’s cell phone and VND900,000.
On July 17, Tan Bien District Police, Tay Ninh Province, detained twin brothers Nguyen Van Vi and Nguyen Quang Dai (18 years old, residing in Hao Duoc Commune, Chau Thanh District) for robbery.
Previously, at around 4 p.m. on July 15, Tan Bien District Police received a report from Tan Lap Commune Police that a robbery had just occurred in the area. The victim was taxi driver Truong Trinh Hoang Xuan (51 years old, residing in Thanh Dien Commune, Chau Thanh District, Tay Ninh Province). Driver Xuan said that two young men used a rope to strangle him unconscious and then robbed him of a cell phone and 900,000 VND.
Determining this to be a serious case, Tan Bien District Police mobilized professional teams, police from communes, towns, and border posts to set up checkpoints, and assigned a working group to pick up buses and taxis in the area for inspection. After 30 minutes, the district police discovered 2 criminals and arrested them, took them to the headquarters, and confiscated 1 phone, 1 parking card, and 870,000 VND.

At the police station, the two young men said their names were Nguyen Van Vi and Nguyen Quang Dai, twin brothers. Because they had no money to spend, they both went to rob property.
At noon of the same day, the two men went to Tay Ninh Bus Station to call a taxi. Mr. Truong Trinh Hoang Xuan took a taxi to the restaurant and was asked by Vi and Dai to take him to Tan Lap commune, Tan Bien district and then continue to Ba Dinh base.
On the way through a deserted area, they asked him to stop the car and borrow his phone to call his family. When Mr. Xuan handed over the phone, Vi strangled him with a rope, and Dai beat him with an iron rod. Thinking Mr. Xuan was dead, they stole his phone and 900,000 VND and fled.
In addition to the above robbery, the two brothers Vi and Dai also committed 8 motorcycle thefts and 1 property fraud case in Chau Thanh and Tan Bien districts.
