Mr. Son: Tornado destroyed dozens of hectares of corn

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 5, in Anh Son district, a tornado caused dozens of hectares of summer-autumn corn crops of people in Tuong Son and Hung Son communes to collapse.

In the 2015 summer-autumn crop, Hung Son commune planted 100 hectares of corn on alluvial land, the basic variety is hybrid corn SSC 2095. Currently, the corn plant 01 has blossomed and grown silk, the remaining corn plants are growing well. By the afternoon of August 5, a tornado had completely destroyed the corn hectare, making it impossible to harvest.

The tornado caused dozens of hectares of summer-autumn corn crops of people in Tuong Son and Hung Son communes to collapse.

In the summer-autumn crop of 2015, Anh Son district planted 1,650 hectares of corn, of which the main varieties were DK 6919 and SSC 2095. The corn is currently growing well. However, due to unfavorable weather, a tornado caused the corn to fall. According to initial statistics of Anh Son district People's Committee, the tornado caused 12 hectares of corn to fall, of which 7 hectares were in Hung Son commune, 5 hectares in Tuong Son commune, and many other crops were damaged, with an estimated loss of 360 million VND.

Currently, Anh Son district is directing localities damaged by tornadoes, instructing people to repair areas that are still capable of being harvested. The areas that are completely destroyed are being directed to be harvested to make animal feed for livestock.
