Mr. Son: Increasing income from sustainable production models
(Baonghean) - In order to achieve the core goal of increasing people's income, over the past 5 years, Anh Son district has had many policies to encourage production development. The effectiveness of more than 500 production and business models (good production and business models at the district level) has been confirmed, breaking the "fragmented, small-scale" mindset of many generations of Anh Son farmers.

Efficiency from models
Following the district's agricultural restructuring project and preferential mechanisms and policies for agricultural economic development, many farming households in Anh Son have boldly invested in production and business, building farm models and family farms focusing on producing the district's key products such as raising pigs, buffaloes, cows, chickens, growing fruit trees, developing tea and sugarcane on a large scale with high economic value.
Cam Son is a commune recognized for having many production models that have been formed and maintained sustainably in Anh Son district. Currently, Cam Son has up to 24 models of farms and ranches. A typical example is the cow breeding model with a scale of 150 cows of Mr. Dang Trong Duong's family, village 7, Cam Son commune. Looking at the herd of cows full in the barn, we could not help but admire the boldness in thinking and doing of this farmer. Mr. Duong shared: in 1999, he started building the initial farm with a few dozen cows.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Dung's pig farming model in Cam Son commune brings in an income of over 500 million VND/year. |
Realizing the advantage of having a large area of land, stable output, and high economic efficiency, he borrowed 600 million VND from the bank to expand the barn on an area of 500 m2 on a large and continuous scale. Up to now, after more than 15 years of development, his farm has always maintained a stable number of over 100 cows. His annual profit from fattening cows has also reached approximately 1 billion VND. From the initial success of Mr. Duong's family, up to now, dozens of other households in the commune have also developed livestock models, creating a commodity livestock area with high income and always sustainable output.
Mr. Dau Xuan Phu - Chairman of Cam Son Commune People's Committee said: Thanks to the right economic restructuring, application of science and technology in production, livestock and other industries, the average income per capita of the commune in 2015 reached over 28 million VND/person; The poverty rate is now only 11% according to the new criteria.
Support for models
To achieve the above results, Anh Son district has focused on directing localities to implement land consolidation, land conversion, reasonable arrangement of crop and livestock structure, labor structure shift in rural areas; applying scientific and technological advances to build large-scale field models. In the process of building new rural areas, the district has integrated programs and organized 87 rural vocational training classes for over 2,100 workers.
To encourage people and localities to continue to replicate the above models, in 2016, Anh Son district implemented many policy mechanisms, accordingly, in the field of livestock farming, there are 5 items: Support for the construction of concentrated livestock slaughterhouses at a rate of 75 million VND/concentrated livestock slaughterhouse within the approved planning; support for the construction of a "silage for livestock" model at 50% of the cost of purchasing cutting machines, silage yeast for cattle and buffalo herds of 5 or more; Support for newly established farms for each farm that meets the conditions to be granted a certificate by the competent authority at 20 million VND/farm; Support for concentrated livestock farming areas at a support level of 30 million VND/farm.
