Mr. Son: Applying biotechnology to agricultural production
(Baonghean) -Up to now, the topic of Applying biotechnology to agricultural production of Anh Son Agricultural Extension Station has been applied by farmers one after another, initially showing positive results...
From the headquarters of the People's Committee of Phuc Son commune, we stopped by Gia Giang hamlet, where many households have used the product and composted manure using biotechnology to fertilize crops and treat the livestock environment very effectively. In the barn of Mr. Nguyen Canh Thuan's house, there is a well-composted biofertilizer warehouse with a neat roof. He said: From 2009 to now, following the guidance of the District Agricultural Extension Station, he has known how to use Emicx to treat the barn by sprinkling the product powder directly on the floor of the barn 3-4 times a week, and can add rice husks and sawdust to make it more convenient for manure. Previously, every July and August, when the rain and sunshine were erratic, diseases would appear in the livestock or poultry, but since using the product, no diseases have appeared in his family's livestock.
Up to now, farmers in Anh Son district have known about the processing of organic microbial fertilizers using agricultural by-products to fertilize industrial tea plants. However, only a few areas with raw tea areas have the need and conditions to implement the application. However, in the past 3 years, after the topic "Application of biotechnology in agricultural production" proved its effectiveness, Anh Son farmers have applied it to production: To produce 1 ton of organic microbial fertilizer using a product that does not require sugar or molasses, the raw materials are from 5-8 quintals of corn, straw, peanuts, beans, water hyacinth, grass after soil preparation, sugarcane leaves, 2-5 quintals of manure, 1-2 kg of urea, 1-2 kg of potassium, 30-50 kg of Lam Thao phosphate. All raw materials are composted on a flat, covered ground, and after about 45 days to 2 months, they can be moved to the livestock barn. Before composting, mix nitrogen and potassium with water, mix Emicx product about 3-5 packets and water evenly.
Anh Son farmers use compost to fertilize rice plants
Duc Son commune currently has over 260 hectares of rice, nearly 300 hectares of corn. Under the guidance of the district's Agricultural Extension Station, people have produced over 2,000 tons of organic microbial fertilizer per year to fertilize crops. Over 60% of households (nearly 2,000 households) of the commune have fertilized rice, corn, oranges, tea... Many households such as Mr. Thong - head of village 16, Mr. Pham Hong - farmers' association of hamlet 9 and Ms. Dinh Thi Lien - hamlet 6 produce 2-3 tons of fertilizer per household per year. Ms. Pham Thi Ly, an agricultural officer of Duc Son commune, excitedly said: “We call this microbial organic fertilizer “high-quality manure”. Using this type of fertilizer reduces the cost of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer for crops by 30-50% compared to before. Using this fertilizer model shows that rice, corn and oranges grow and develop well, with many flowers and fruits, reducing pathogens and harmful insects, and increasing soil fertility.”
The topic of the project “Application of biotechnology in agricultural production” said: In the condition that there was no organic fertilizer factory, in 2008, he decided to personally go to Hanoi, to find the Biotechnology Application Company to research. From the beginning of 2012 until now, basically units and farmers in the whole district have applied this technology to clean barns for livestock and poultry, produce thousands of tons of fertilizer for rice, corn and tea, protect the ecological environment and increase crop and livestock productivity.
Based on the practical effectiveness, the Anh Son District Party Committee is planning to direct the expansion of the model, encouraging its application in agricultural production for the people. However, with a cost of nearly 100,000 VND to produce 1 ton of fertilizer, and a composting time of nearly 2 months, many farmers are hesitant to apply it in practice. Anh Son District and the agricultural extension station need to have reasonable policies to create conditions for people to apply it in production.
