Anh Vien received a training scholarship from the USA Swimming Federation.

Also at this tournament last year, Anh Vien won 3 distances: 400m medley, 200m medley and 200m backstroke in the 18-year-old age group. In the near future, Anh Vien will compete in two Grand Prix tournaments and attend the 28th SEA Games in June in Singapore. In August, Vien will attend the world championship and strive to reach the final.
With a bronze medal at the 17th ASIAD in 2014, Anh Vien was the first athlete to bring a medal to Vietnamese swimming in the continental arena. Also in 2014, she won a gold medal at the Youth Olympics.
Thanks to this achievement, Anh Vien was awarded a training scholarship by the USA Swimming Federation for American athletes or athletes of other nationalities who are training in the US, in the preparation program to qualify for the 2016 Olympics. The condition to receive this training scholarship is that the athlete must be in the top 20 athletes in the world in a certain official competition distance.
According to coach Dang Anh Tuan, who directly trained Anh Vien, this female swimmer was ranked 14th in the world by the World Swimming Federation last year, in the 400m medley event.
Currently, Anh Vien is one of two Vietnamese athletes who have reached standard A for the 2016 Olympics, along with shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh.
