Surveys at Nga Tu So market (Thanh Xuan) and Phung Khoang market (Tu Liem district) were similar. Chinese bras were displayed everywhere, piled up haphazardly. According to shop owners, bras priced from 15,000 to 30,000 VND/piece are only padded with foam inside, very stuffy. However, if you buy "genuine" products, with prices from 55,000 to 90,000 VND/piece, customers can immediately own a "perfect" silicone padded bra, with additional massage beads inside, helping to relax and increase bust size "without surgery".
Dissecting two bras advertised as containing silicone, according to the reporter's records: one was padded with a piece of flexible, transparent white rubber with many holes; the other bra was padded with a milky white solution, each side had 3 plastic beads that could move if touched by hand. Both of these bras cost 60,000 VND each.
When cutting open the bag containing the milky white liquid in the second bra, there was a faint musty smell and an unpleasant “slimy” substance, along with 3 plastic beads on each side. When washing this solution with water, it created a layer of grease-like film that did not dissolve. To wash the slimy solution off her hands, the reporter had to wash it 5 times with soap. However, the musty smell and greasy film still did not go away immediately.

Inviting trouble because of fake silicone
Dr. Nguyen Huy Tho, Head of the Department of Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery, 108 Central Military Hospital, said that silicone used in the cosmetic field is very expensive. A pair of breast implants containing silicone costs 1,000-1,500 USD. Therefore, bras that cost only a few tens of thousands of VND to a few hundred thousand VND but contain silicone implants cannot be guaranteed to be real, high-quality silicone.
Dr. Tho said that the solution taken from the bra is advertised as a silicone bag containing particles that help massage and support the breasts. It is unknown what toxic ingredients it contains because this needs to be tested. However, through sensory observation and decades of experience in cosmetic surgery, the doctor affirmed that the solution in the bra bag is completely different from the silicone used in breast augmentation surgery.
The solution in the bra pocket is milky white while the silicone used in cosmetic surgery is transparent. When touching the solution in the bra pocket, the hand feels greasy like touching fat, then feels itchy and uncomfortable. While if it is medical silicone, Dr. Tho affirmed that medical silicone in breast implants, even in the case of a ruptured breast implant, the silicone flowing into the body does not cause irritation or have negative effects on the woman's health.
In response to the loud advertisements of shop owners claiming that wearing this bra will help lift and enlarge the breasts because it contains massage beads, the doctor affirmed that this is impossible. “The breast massage process must be a strong impact to generate heat to be effective. While these beads are only in the solution bag in the bra pad, the impact on women's breasts is almost non-existent, or very little.”
Doctors even warn that wearing bras like this will only bring disaster to women, wasting money and causing illness. The solution in the pads is not guaranteed, only packaged in plastic bags, so after just a few washes, the bag will burst, the solution will spill out, stick to the body causing skin allergies, clogged pores. Especially women who are breastfeeding are at risk of inflammation, cracked nipples, and nipple infections.
Flat chest wearing padded bra will make it even flatter
