Reuters reported that on May 30, thousands of "Yellow Shirt" people in Thailand rallied to protest the national reconciliation bill.

The national reconciliation bill is expected to grant amnesty to all political criminals, including former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Some see the national reconciliation bill as a way to allow former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to return home after a period of exile.

More than 3,500 people gathered at the Royal Plaza area in central Bangkok before marching in the late afternoon to parliament, where the bill could be discussed this week.

"Some protesters will sleep overnight outside parliament but whether this protest lasts or not depends on whether the government gives in to our demands to drop this bill," said protest leader Pipob Thongchai.

Protest leaders used a truck as a podium and took turns criticizing the government's proposals for national reconciliation while police stood guard behind the gates of the parliament building./.
